Rice in a sock! Take a sock, fill with rice, tie a knot, stick it in the microwave. DIY heatpad. It works like a treat, and the sock is a really good size and shape for cramps, I find. Have a go next time if you're in desperate need x

Fun fact! You actually do have mild contractions on your period. The process for pushing out your uterine wall is similar to giving birth just like... on a much smaller scale.

+Caroline Harvey Not really, it's literally just the pain of your cervix contracting and expanding to push the uterine lining out. The cervix barely expands during your period compared to giving birth (probably less than a cm vs. the 9-10cm it expands to during birth.) It's just a muscle doing muscle things :)

period tips :D --> you can make a hot water bottle with an old (long) sock (or something similar). 3/4 filled with rice (brown, white, doesn't matter). then you shove it in the microwave for a few mins. pretty useful and versatile :)
