This is fantastic work! I mean I've been scavenging through a ton of videos... Looking for some simple, yet detailed video on how utilities work. I've just started with chillers now and I think I'm gonna go through the entire playlist! Notes on the goooo ❤️❤️ I've started a new role and in legit struggling. So this is really good for me. Thanks a million!!

There's a thing I don't actually understand. How does the water coming from the cooling tower cool the refrigerant enough? The water enters the tower at 35 degree C and leaves at 29. I mean 29 is still a high temperature. What is the refrigerant's entering and leaving temperatures in the evaporator?
@MEPAcademy14 күн бұрын
Remember that you need a difference in temperature to move heat from one location to another. The greater the difference or Delta-T, the greater the amount of heat that can be moved. The condensing temperature of the refrigerant in the condenser can vary, but 95F-100F (35C-38C) are good examples for a water-cooled chiller.

@@MEPAcademy I don't understand. As far as I know, boiling points of R32 and R410a are about -52 degree C. The temperature of the refrigerant needs to drop to -52 before it leaves the condenser, right? According to the heat transfer principle, how can you do this by using 29-degree air or water? At best, in the condenser, you can drop the temperature of the refrigerant to that of water or air which is 29.
@MEPAcademy14 күн бұрын
@@kaan2215 You're thinking is good, but you're forgetting about the pressure. If you look at a refrigerant chart for say R32 and a condenser pressure of 280 to 320 PSI (19.3 to 22 Bar) you'll get your temperatures. The work of the compressor raises the pressure of the refrigerant in order to make it useful for absorbing the heat from the tower water. Hope that helps.

Where the chilled water is going can you explain
@MEPAcademy10 ай бұрын
The chilled water is produced and delivered to air handlers and fan coils. The air handlers and fan coils absorb heat from the spaces, thereby cooling the room air. The air handlers and fan coils have chilled water coils. See our other video on how air handlers work. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5-Ve39-q7eUec0
