Mama Poa often feels like she’s a big sister or a mentor to the contestants. she gives them great advice on how to hone into what can make them a super star, is able to remove the barrier between judge and contestant which leads to hilarious interactions in the werk room. Above all, she does care for every contestant which is what makes each elimination heart breaking. so happy to see the evolution of the Philippines franchise.

Drag Race Down Under was my favorite franchise this year, and I watched them all. Michelle did great and all the queens were fantastic. Lazy Susan is a super star. Her creativity is off the charts. My least favorite is Thailand, that was rough.

I loved España all stars, even tho it was sad to not see Onyx do the ball. Sethlas is so good at drag it was nice to see them recognise her talent. Also I recently did a marathon of all talent shows and Samantha's comedy routine is number 1 for me, I literally had to pause it because I couldn't breathe

Just something to reflect on. I gotta say I'm glad Drag Race has introduced many Americans, or at least some queer audiences, to media that is NOT in their native language and from their own cultures. It's crazy to say, but still in 2024, some ppl in the first world remain so unaware and unknowledgeable about other cultures. I'm glad that drag race is contributing to a certain extend to the spread of cultural awareness in the queer community.

Here is the thing for France, as a french guy. The cast is underwelming from the start, that's the point, and you're right about it. A lot of new Drag Artist (like 40% of them have less than 2 years of experience like ???). Second point, they understand that they made a huge mistake by mistreating Le Filip, eliminating Magnetica and overprotected Lula who should have at least 2 BTM2 (and because she's not a performer, not making the final btw), especially after the reaction of French fans. Lula was the production Winning Pick from the beginning, with Ruby as the Runner-Up. The entire season is build around her growing and winning confidence. In the other hand, Le Filip won the season with 0 WIN, but Mera, seriously... She should have won the Rusical BY FAR, and the last episode should have been a Roast alone, and Le Filip clearly won that part too. They build the last episode to comfirm Lula as the Winner, but the reaction were bad and they change for the final. Le Filip killed the Final, Lula flopped hard. The French fandom is happy even if we wanted Le Filip winning the 2 challenges she clearly won, and that's it. It's not a bad season, just a bad call from the production (Nicky has nothing to do with it). And be sure they are learning from that and All Star is gonna be killer !

Sorry, this just reads as "Yes, they made a bad season but they got the winner right, so all is forgiven." Like it's still a poorly produced season though... And like Drag Race is the pinnacle of drag competitions, they shouldn't be casting baby queens even if they're a large part of the community unless they're truly ready for a national competition

The bad point for S3 were Magnetica being BTM2 for TS, Le Filip not winning the Rusical and the last challenge twist, the rest of the judging is quite fair. They try something with the phone, it didn't work for some of us, French loves it in general (and it's the most important), that's all. And even if the season is dislike by a lot of people, the fact is it's still 8,1/10 overall, so most of people enjoyed it. Well guess what, not every country have 10 000+ profesionnal Drag Queens with 15 years of experience each. Production probably cast what was the best at this moment. During the filming of S3, most of the famous/experienced French Drag were not available, except for Le Filip, Leona and Norma. And i'm not gonna repeat myself, the rest of my opinion is on my first post ^^

My favourite is Down Under, kudos for rejuvenation of the franchise. Next was UK 6, UK vs world, US 16. This may change as I'm about to watch Phillipines!

I have a theory why Michelle ends each episode of Down Under with, "Stop relying on that body" She used to say it to Courtney Act all the time, and as we all know, Courtney Act had a big falling out with WOW and Rupaul. I think having Michelle say this is basically production giving the middle finger to Courtney and letting her know that they gave, what could have been her job, to Michelle.

26:29 regarding that, what , in my opinion, really obviously happened is that production very CLEARLY intended for leona to win originally,when filming, with Le Fillip probably meant to moreso be this obstacle for Leona to overcome during the final lip sync. But when all the controversies surrounding Leona surfaced during airing , they decided to do a Ruby vs le filip final 2 (the finale was recorded one week before the finale itself aired) who both were the clear fan favorites, with le filip being slightly more popular (NOT taking ANY credit away from le filip. She is a worthy winner and I actually would have given her the win during the celine dion episode, and wouldn’t have put her anywhere near the bottom during snarch game, but the leona favouritism was very clear , and le fillip is still a deserving winner who i d argue deserved a better track record wise)

I agree with Fabrielle so much about UK6 being the first season of UK to go back what makes it a great franchise. The entire cast was so likable and it made it enjoyable to follow along. I do agree with Mera though in the sense that it’s getting tired with a clear two top being foreshadowed way too early in the season or two contestants getting 3 or 4 wins each while everyone has none or one. I think once we move past that, the UK seasons will just keep getting better.

Hot Take: Global All Stars wasn’t THAT bad, like yes it was annoying to watch certain queens get favored (e.g. Kween and Kitty) but as someone who doesn’t watch any other franchises that aren’t in English, I grew to enjoy a lot of the non-English speaking queens a lot. It was a very likable case but I specifically fell in love with Vanity Vain, I thought she was so sickening and she really kept the season grounded. The one lip sync episode with the eliminated queens was cute and at the end of the day, we all knew that Alyssa was going to win, especially with that final lip sync. Overall, it was at least a 6 or 7 for me and was miles better than AS9 which I couldn’t even be bothered to finish because it was so boring and most of the cast wasn’t likable…

I think angeria would of won in an elimination season too, She would of been the only one in the finally. The only wons that I think would of gone farther is channel and gotmik. Channel feels like she would of been the mid all the way till she won the end. Gotmik feels like she was high in the start and then mid till the end. She outdid most of her problem places on her original season. Her dog prosthetic and comedy was a high!

I think production tried really hard to get Lula as the winner of the season and they didn't care about Le Filip, but once the episodes released, the french fans just loved Le Filip so much and saw her as THE winner of the season, and Lula flopped the finale while Le Filip had the best performance of the night, i feel like Le Filip won thanks to the finale and the reaction of the audience, not necessarely thanks to how she did during the challenges

Philipeans is HANDS DOWN the unopposed winners of this year. Season 16 was maybe like 3rd or 4th.uk was MAYBE number 2. I think down under might be a little higher for me. Maybe because I wasn't expecting to love it. UK just felt like they had so many that had no chance and then channel went home too quick. We needed her in the top 4 at least to continue the drama. I love releasa but this show is for a more rounded person. I love dancers and she feels like a dancer that can paint. I feel like kiren kind of flatlined and fairly hard. I feel like by the end it should of been marmelade and the old one. It was just really odd. Kind of like with simon or angeria. They were the WINNER in the first couple episodes until mid way and they are now kind of boring and no longer feel interesting. Where the old gal maybe shouldn't of won as much as she did but she was still the most steady to mid high through the whole season.

I was also a bit surprised in a good and bad way about channel. Bad way that she gives such a perfectionist feel and that's why she can be a bit c*nty. She didn't deliver. She is probably amazing in the smaller town she is from but she had some ODD taste level chooses. Her being saucy with the girls but not turning it into a petty terrible thing was also surprising in a nice way. She really listened to the girls still and was making sure they knew she heard them. I really respect her and felt she was so strong to do that. She never dished out anything she couldn't take. I think with a bit of money she is the stand out of the season. REALLLY enjoyed her!

Also the one that was the oldest on the season was such an odd miss for me too. I was expecting her to back up and be the one to look out for. She flopped so bad. Also charity needed to leave so much sooner. I see the comparison you guys make about chloe here but they are worlds apart for me. Chloe is like the movie star version of the real life person that is charity. You know what I mean. Chloe feels so fully realized and has a golden personality! Whenever you hear girls saying that they could out do a contestant on drag race when they are a busted form of the girl on rpdr, this is the difference of chloe to charity. I bought chloe online and got charity from Temu XD.

Also I like lil but I was still very unimpressed by her too. She was never high in my mind. Really the only time I thought she did better than the fans made her out to be was the makeover. I thought the yellow hair worked fine with it and think it worked so well for her brand. The rest didn't feel nuanced enough.

5 was the best imo. Better even than 2 which I think is good but overrated. 6 started right and I was a big Kyran fan but then I realised she was playing drag race by numbers like Bob on US8. She planned for every single possible challenge, which is a good strategy but she was so busy trying to win, she forgot to win our hearts. She had an emotional moment but it felt overproduced whereas Rileasa had me sobbing in the finale. Tomara from S5 is probably my fave UK queen ever. So loveable, talented and authentic... and hilarious. The S5 queens you mentioned, S6 could never.
