That's actually an amazing concept, remember Red Shadow Maggots by Eltorro? Someone made a real mobile game out of that, I can see potential in something like Dota Autochess but with TF2 mercs.

Should've made Scout the Knight (can double jump over things!), Demo the Rook (Degroot Keep is almost a castle!), and Sniper as Bishop (long range at sharp angles, needs only a tiny line of sight!) This is great though, loved the card game one too, can't wait to see what's next!

So Heavy is the king Medic is the queen So far fitting Demo is the bishop Not a bad choice Pyro is the knight I guess Spy is more fitting The stick-like Sniper is the rook? Demo is the most fitting for this piece, he has a castle and all Soldiers are pawns, of course they are

With the trimping Demo_knight_ can pull off, I'd say he should be the knight. Make Heavy the rook, skinny Sniper the bishop (God save the queen!), Soldier the king, and Scout the pawns.

I say the demo and sniper should switch pieces. Spy could take one of the knight pieces or be backup pieces. I feel like engineer would be rook because of the castling strategy and think it would be funny for heavy to hide behind engineer.

I'd say Pyro is pawn, because it can only into close combat. Sniper is fine as he has the similar role to long-distance shots. Spy, Scout or Demoman for the knight, bishop is Soldier (as he can rocketjump far too)

Pawn: pyro(because w+m1) Rook: heavy Bishop:soldier(because he's canonically a priest in guam) Knight: scout(because double jump) King: medic(because you have to protect him) Queen: engineer(because teleporters)
