Mercari is in a PANIC - They're Pulling the Plug on THIS

I actually had a return, brand new mini crockpots in original packaging with foam. I wrapped the original box with bubble wrap. Customer did a return stating items were damaged and a water stain that the buyer thought was used. The buyer messaged me saying they were returning the item and that it was a wedding gift; fishy behavior #1. Why would one open a new , original sealed box that was going to be a wedding gift. The item came back, a little dents, but what made it “fishy # 2, “ was the one pot they said had “water” stains was missing the factory zip tie round the plug. The other pot was in perfect condition. Mercari emailed said it was being returned to me because of damages during shipping and reciting the shipping instructions to make sure I was packing correctly. I been selling on Mercari for 4 years, never had a return, over 650 5 stars and a majority of comments stating my packaging was done well. 🤔 Mercari?

I fell victim to the return for any reason, when the item was pictured and described exactly how it was. I'm glad they're reverting back.

I’m never brave enough to list anything like an empty video game case. I can just envision the return request because nobody reads . I’ve seen you guys so empty boxes for high end stuff very successfully so maybe I should get over that fear and list those types of things when I have them around .😂

When you list something like thar and they buy it. You just message them and make sure they know what they bought. That's what I do. Quick confirm

In almost 2 years, I've only had one return request on Mercari, which the buyer decided to cancel. So far, so good for me since the new changes.Sales are slightly up. Not having the seller's fees more than cover the withdrawal fee.

it shows return, but its a return on combined postage. They combined the shipping costs and refunded some back to the buyer.

If Mercari has already backtracked on the return for any reason policy, nothing is off the table. While this may please sellers, buyers are going to be even more unhappy as this was one of the benefits that came with the new buyer fees. Just wait. As Mercari continues to lose buyers due to the buyer fees and now return policy reversal, I expect their no seller fees policy to be rescinded as well. Of course, the $2 ACH fee to sellers to withdraw their funds will remain.

I did, as well, close my Mercari store as soon as was possible- putting it on vacation mode until enough time had passed following two sales just prior to the email from Mercari stated all the changes as I needed to wait 2 weeks to close.
