Mercedes 190E W124 5-speed manual gear shifter rebuild- part 1

I have traced my REVERSE problem to this component as well. After trouble shooting ROD and Lever BUSHINGS I can see no other place for this to cause the jam. I can manually move the rods on the transmission thru all gears including REVERSE. I can make the selection from the levers coming down thru the cabin. HOWEVER when shifting from the drivers seat I can shift gears 1 to 5 But cannot get it into reverse . Can you provide a suggestion where the cause may be.I can rebuild it , just unsure o what might be the cause in the Shifting assembly . 1985, 201 190D, 5 speed manual Thank you

Hi Tim, I discovered that the plastic washer missing might cause the reverse hard or can't not shift issue. Please check first if any washer missing (you can find in video 1:07 the left one in the red circle )

@@jacobvinatieri6696 Hi, I will recommend you check that all washers are there especially the plastic one inserted into the main shell which might cause the reverse shift issue.

I took apart my shifter assembly recently and noticed that one of the owners before me did not put that spring back into the assembly, I also cannot find any parts related to that spring. I was wondering if you could give me the dimensions of it?
