great as always...still rolling on my 90 300SL at 162k miles, it's a keeper, done alot of your updates

That is so cool. Mine was a 1990 300SL as well. Hindsight being 20/20, I know that I would have handled some of the issues better. At 162K, that car may have another 100K in it before a major overhaul.

@@FlashDriveFilms I got mine so cheap ($2500) at 142k , I did head gasket, top cylinders, new top and interior, all myself (cathartic process) but so I'm at best another $4k besides consumables.....going over for my mileage badge in spring...don't really care about the cost (too much)....its a hobby and not an 'investment' :) I will keep driving as long as it keeps running.

@@FlashDriveFilms oh and I did check on cost of a rebuilt M104 the other day....just for the hell of it :)

That's how I viewed mine: the value of the car is the use of it. The best par tis they really do respond to care and reward doing maintenance items on time with even more carefree miles. Never had to do a head gasket, but the water pump !!!

WOW 31 cents/mi... DAM My 92 is probably 5-10 dollars a mile. Bought it 2004 w/ 45000K to day it has 55K miles. Just repairs over 18 years 8K or 80/mi. I did save lost of money on the dash(flash) repair WHY because YOU showed me how to do it :) I was shocked that I fixed it with your help...I am still shocked. one last thing License fees Nevada 330/yr X 18 years 5940/10K miles 59 cents a mile YOU made out Bigly.

Thank you! There were a couple of advantages that came together for me, not the least of which were the online forums where I was introduced to some of the fixes I later made videos of. (like the DashFlash) I found it feels great to be able to "pay it forward" to the car community with my own repair videos.

Interesting to see costs in other parts of the world. Your total cost of registration, insurance and tax etc is less than what we pay PER YEAR in Australia. Yep, we are ripped off something major.

It's great to see your comment! I always enjoy watching your work on the W124 cars & drew inspiration for some of my tasks on the R129 from them. I feel privileged that you have watched my viewed my work. (And believe me, in NY they get us here on taxes just about everywhere else.)

@@FlashDriveFilms heh, my fuel hose saga has been demoralising and a total debacle. Hopefully I am on the right track now. Its so annoying that MB would discontinue something as critical as the fuel hoses in the engine bay. Its a safety issue and they just left us to work it out for ourselves.
@FlashDriveFilms2 жыл бұрын
I've had 4 separate Benzes with fuel hose problems. All of them right back by the filter /pump. Only one was a Diesel and all the others all gasoline. I now always suspect the rubber parts (like vacuum lines too) will perish earlier than I might guess. .
