All assistance systems in all Mercedes-Benz vehicles work within system limits at all times to their full capacity. The driver retains full responsibility with respect to the road and traffic conditions.
The new Actros is a truck featuring pioneering innovations in series production which immediately pay off. The vehicle increases efficiency for business owners and comfort for drivers to a previously unattained level: fuel consumption has fallen noticeably while safety and vehicle availability have been increased further.
The opportunities provided by digitization have been leveraged in order to achieve that. This applies in particular to the new Multimedia Cockpit, the completely updated interface between the driver and vehicle. The driver benefits from a seamlessly connected workspace with digital services and assistance systems, which can be used intuitively and support the drivers to operate even more effectively. The digital aspects also benefit fleet managers and scheduling teams. Thanks to the new Actros' comprehensive connectivity they are able to monitor their trucks in real-time without interruption and delays. All necessary maintenance and logistics processes, e.g, can be perfectly organized and immediate response is possible in urgent cases.
The new Actros is available to order with the start of the 2018 IAA show. The first vehicles will be delivered to customers in spring next year. The options for configuring the new Actros are extensive and each customer will be able to order precisely the Actros which best meets the individual requirements.
New: Active Drive Assist is where automated driving starts - for greater safety and to ease the burden on the driver in stressful situations and at all speed ranges
The new Actros has been considerably improved with regard to safety and comfort and underlines its pioneering position in that respect. The most important and spectacular new feature is the new Active Drive Assist. Unlike systems which only work within a certain speed range, Active Drive Assist gives the driver access to semi-automated driving at all speeds for the first time in a series production truck. New features include active lateral control and the combination of longitudinal and lateral control at all speed ranges by combining radar and camera information.
Active Drive Assist builds on the proven Proximity Control Assist system with stop-and-go function, as well as on the Lane Keeping Assist. Active Drive Assist brakes the truck if it gets too close to a vehicle driving in front and accelerates again until a set speed is reached. It also actively keeps the vehicle in lane. If the vehicle is leaving its lane unintentionally, Active Drive Assist intervenes and independently steers the vehicle back into its lane. The distance from the vehicle in front and the vehicle's position in its lane can be adjusted in multiple stages using the driving assistance menu.

hoffentlich passiert auch was beim kriechmodus am getriebe der funktioniert genauso miess wie bei der ersten automatik im actros präzise rangieren ist unmöglich im BDF betrieb ( wechselbrücke) und toll wäre wenn die assistenzsyteme auch bei schnee funktionieren würden dan wäre ein traumauto.

It all comes down to experience. The company I work for has some of these and the drivers have said it takes time to get used to, you do a lot more 'monitoring'. This truck can make driving easier and more comfortable when you spend enough time with it.

Amazed it has taken so long, well now they are here (rear view cameras) expect them on all lorry's trucks) in the future. MB has in the past had some of the worst mirrors for causing the massive blind spot that normal mirrors create so this system will be welcomed by MB drivers (IMO) The camera stalks may well swivel to close in should they be hit by a branch etc ?

Just one thing! If you are driving and texting on the phone at the same time the police put a big ticket because is against the law. In this truck you have to drive and touch the side screen in order to find some funtion that you need. So what!!!

simple: THE US DOESN’T WANT THESE TRUCKS RUNNING ON AMERICAN ROADS, lest people starts lobbying against the 15yr import ban. The two comments above me are comment. Yo Mimito is correct that if these European trucks were brought to the US, they would put domestic truck manufacturers out of business. Just look at the disruption that Volvo alone has caused in the US. Every truck company in the US wants a Volvo truck because they are easy to drive for beginners. Petr Klic is correct that a certain aspect of European trucks is trash, and that aspect is... speed! European trucks are simply not built for high top speed. In America, there are states where trucks are permitted to go up to even 75 mph. European trucks are designed to safely drive up to 60 mph. Trying to do 75 mph would be like trying to commit suicide, but I'm pretty sure if European truck manufacturers designed trucks for the American market, they would develop trucks that can do 75 mph no problem.

Ja der neue Actros ist schon richtig super, ist aber eigentlich keine wirkliche Überraschung. Wenn man bedenkt wie viel Kohle Mercedes in die weiter Entwicklung von Motoren, Getriebe und vieles mehr investiert. Für mich ist ganz klar Mercedes mit einer der besten Automobilhersteller der Welt.

Oh gott ja, das ist der einzige Lkw Hersteller wo es solche Probleme gibt. Das habe ich bei keinem anderen Lkw bisher gehabt. Ich bin Springer und wir haben ausser Renault alles vertreten. Die Sitzposition finde ich im Actros auch nicht so gut.
