If you put in all that extra detailed scratch built parts and made all of that body and chassis corrections, Tamiya didn't go far enough. Their kits are so expensive just because they're Tamiya! I love their fit and I build them straight from the box and only the ones I really like. Your work is stupendous and clean!
I see that you’ve gone the quick build route on this one, since you didn’t open up the rear differential and scratch build the ring and pinion gears. Looking forward to seeing this museum quality model through to its conclusion. 👍

I especially like the detail added to the spaceframe at the upper middle of the firewall. It's a detail that will be highly visible on the finished model and therefore gets a lot of "oohs and ahhs" for the effort. In fact much of this extra chassis work is visible on the completed model. (I try to limit my detailing to the visible areas so undercar chassis work is one place I usually scrimp. Otherwise I'd never get anything finished, haha.)
@A4Garage2 жыл бұрын
I would like to work on only the visible parts in detail. But engine bay is fun, so I'm doing it in more detail. Thanks.

I have some acquaintance of the chassis of this car because I used to share space with a team of guys who restored and rebuilt them. The thing that surprised me was the poor quality of the original welds (it might have been brazed, I don’t remember) in the spaceframe. Compared to the lattice tail boom on a Bell 47 helicopter, it was as rough as guts. It may not have been very heavy but it wouldn’t have passed muster for an aircraft of any kind. Both are hand built.

May one ask a few questions? 1. You appear to use plastic cement over paint. How does that work? 2. The tiny springs you use for carbs and other items, what is your source? 3. On several builds you use a corrugated tube for air intake and heater lines. My one ask the source of this tubing? 4. You use a yellow colored tube for your fuel lines. Is this just a clear tube you drop paint into or is it yellow tube? Source? Thanks ever so much if you choose to reply to my questions.
