I really like the 500 SL from near the beginning if the video. I remember seeing one I'm a local showroom as a teenager. It always anazes me how early some of the 190e are. I think they look more like a late 80's/early 90's car.

By the time my 190 was made (1990) the model had been in production for 8 years… this one was a very early car, and by the reg, ex MB UK. I’ve only seen one A reg 190… until the owner told me it had been this exact car that featured on the (Jonny) Smith & Sniff Field of dreams film…

Saw a brown R107 at Skipton Mercedes Specialists . It’s rear suspension had rotted. Having owned a Mercedes W201 from almost new I’d looked at MB Clubs but most events happen in your area.

To be honest it’s only the second event I’ve been to, I was really surprised how many cars turned up, some guys have even travelled from the West Midlands!

@@Lot76CARS 👍🏻 Unsurprising that there are so many in the South. That’s where most of the money has been historically. I really liked the S124, though lowered suspension is not for the purists. Nice alloys though. The Mercedes Specialist opined not for the first time that W201 values have climbed, not that I would sell.

A freind and I compared the handling of a new C63 and a 1987 190e. Through a local abandoned roundabout. The C63 was stock, the 190e had 55/225 tires on AMG rims (of course). The 190e rules. In fact, still not sure how quick the 190e can go through the roundabout. NB. Known to be a bit sluggish, nonsense. Stick the boot into it. Sat just in front of a WRX and beat a Lancer. (what a gearbox, off in first gear if you want). Immature I know, but it had to be done. Don't have to do that any more, not to mention the old girl has done 400,000 km.

I know they’ve got a (then) ground breaking multi link rear suspension but that going some, proving more can sometimes be less!

@@Lot76CARS Yes, that 5 point rear end. Although used in most mercs now, it was developed specifically for 190e (world rally), which says a lot. It works best in the w201 body. It's the most over engineered vehicle ever manufactured. Never to be replicated again by any manufacture. They are in a league of their own. NB. The front end. Spring and shocker are separate units. Much superior to the McPherson strut set up. Anyway, thank you for showing us those beautiful mercs.
