Mercedes-Benz EQB: One of the only electric seven-seaters

The Mercedes MQB launches into an electric car market that has exploded in popularity and choice over the last couple of years. Where there were once only a handful of decent electric models to choose from, there are now dozens of various shapes and sizes, offering EV buyers real variety, not to mention some serious talent. However, one niche in the market that manufacturers have been surprisingly slow to fill is to cater for those buyers who want to go electric, but who also want, or need, seven seats. Not all that long ago, your only option would be to blow top-dollar on a Tesla, either a Model S or a Model X.
Mercedes is looking to change all that, though. Having recently released the EQV, an all-electric version of the V-Class people carrier, the brand has now followed it up with this, the EQB. Based on the GLB mid-size SUV, it packs its seven chairs into a much more compact footprint, and has an official driving range of 257 miles. The question is, can it perform in other areas?

For a family suv / car I wouldn't be too keen on this one due the white / cream coloured seats....imagine cleaning those seats with kids 😀

This EQB and the GLB look a bit odd, strange dumpy shape, I'm convinced that even on larger wheels and tyres, the proportions would be wrong.

how much to charge for empty? not many people tell this little bit of info and given energy prices are going to sky rocket will they still be worth having?

@jay b Good question and a valid point. Based on the 66.5kWh useable battery and 25p per kWh electricity tariff, you'd be £16.63 for a full battery. If it will do 210mi on that full battery in the real world, that works out at around 8p per mile in 'energy' cost. Significantly less cost per mile if you can charge 5hrs every night on a good rate (some still offer 5p per kWh) With the rising cost of petrol and diesel, even a car averaging 50mpg will likely cost in excess of 14p per mile now.

Merc slow with this model - and EQC and A not suitable - I have to make a decision now and with multiple drivers I have to consider their wants also. Don’t need a tablet - do need reliable unfussy quality and so for me it’ll be the IX3 - would love to have seen a head to head but with order books like they are need to order now.

Don't understand your reasoning for posting a video of a 7 seater when the only model you have is a 5 seat version? Wonder if Vicki got the short straw for that ? Then we are informed the 7 seater is cramped and impractical for the passengers in the third row - kind of a pointless review.
