Great review Anna :) You are right, the distance the Mercedes-Benz EQV 300 is pretty poor. This could be an excellent family touring vehicle if not for the limited distance it can go on a full charge. The weight is incredible too! Lets hope sometime in the near future they can invent a much lighter battery with rapid charging.

I believe one of the reasons the battery range is so low is it wasn’t designed from the startup to be fully electric, thus meaning they skimped on battery size and platform efficiency. Sure, it can go farther than it’s rivals (what with it only having a few) but that still leaves it up short.

I do get 200-250 km out of the E-Vito Tourer (which is basically a cheaper EQV) on german autobahn at 130 km/h when allowed which it is most of the distance. You should assume a consumption of 35 kWh/100 km or 350 Wh/km at that speed. Sounds like a lot and it actually is a lot but you are also moving a lot of car with you. And keep in mind that this car with combustion engine consumes around like 10 l/100 km diesel for the same journey. Charging with 110 kW adds a lot of convienence. Of course the chargers available must be powerful enough but in Germany they are usually available on long distance. Placing your phone is unfortunately also a problem in the Vito. You have spaces under the vents there but no inductive charging and most phones don't fully fit in there. Another "big" problem is that there is no keyless system for EQV or Vito yet. I mean I can understand it for the Vito but in the EQV? Thats not acceptable for a car from 2020 with that pricetag.

Why are they not capable of building a proper web site?? Every cleaning service can do this by now. 3. With a weight of 2.7 tons, why can't they build in some proper battery packs! ??

It has a rooftop of lets say 4x1,5 meters. Thats 6 m². With the best solar cells thats 1500wP. Or around 1000kWh per year. Lets say you drive 25000km a year (i drive 45000km but thats another topic), and your draw with this car is around 300wH/km Then its a maximum 1000000/300 = 3,333 km of additional range per year. Its not worth the cost of implementing car type solar panels on a car. Its just not worth the hassle. Even on the cybertruck - the solarpanels on the vault - are just a gimmick and barely enough to operate the HVAC and recharge the 12V battery. Not more.

The seats are recline able. The same lever you pulled to fold the seats let's you recline. it's also possible to order an arm rest where you have a place for your phone or an middle tray with rollo where you have 2 trays or 1 tray and 2 cup holders. The problem with the speed of the eqv is when you need to overtake. It is underpowered. I drive a v250d at the moment and was very sure to get the eqv but the draw backs are too severe for me.(I'm a driver) The v250d goes from 0-100 in 9 seconds. I never use it but overtaking is much easier than with the 220d because of the torque it has. Mercedes has made big mistakes with the eqs and the eqv. Both cars should've replaced the ice counterparts. The eqs is way too small and isn't comparable to the s class. The only thing it has going for it is a good range. The eqv has a very short range and charging takes up an hour. The good thing about it is that it's exactly like the v class. The s class and v class are cars for luxury traveling and they messed up.

There is no such thing as "guaranteed range" with electric cars. Your range will depend on several factors, both, your style and speed of driving, temperature - full AC or heating - that is a generic statement. It might be 25 outside but it might also be 30, makes a big difference. Then you also have the actual status of the battery. Is it brand new? Or has it been charged many times? Just like with your new mobile phone - it has an expiry date.

Thank you Anna for this professional video, as you know I do not like electric cars but watch it because as I said support you. You're too thin to be called fat. You said how short a distance you could drive with the Mercedes, if you had been in Kiruna with it now, you would have only come about 110 km by car. We now have minus 12 degrees and then the mileage is halved with electric cars. Know a woman in Kiruna who has an electric car but intends to change to a diesel car, because she is tired of the fact that during the winter the mileage is halved when it is around minus 10 degrees and for a couple of days we had minus 25 degrees, then the mileage decreased even more . They can not charge the mobile in an electric car because then you discharge the batteries. Anna, why did you not dare to show your fiancé in the picture, when he drove you and your friend ??

I advise you that when this pandemic is over, to visit Arvidsjaur during the winter where most car manufacturers test their cars during the winter and they run tests all the way up to Kiruna. Look and see for yourself how much the mileage is reduced on electric cars when it is more severe cold, then I am not talking about a paltry -12 degrees but the normal here in the North with down to -30 to -40 degrees. Then you will see how many of these "good electric cars" do not get as far as they promise.

I have to save for my retirement. We have to organize that ourselves. The next years will become financially "interesting" to say it politely. Paying Corona the green deal etc. We got -15 degrees last week, and i lost around 40km on my total range of 380km @ 80% total charge. Thats even without a heatpump. The next one will have the heatpump and octovalve so i will loose even less then that. I really do not care for other OEMs. If they are not capable of building decent cars for a acceptable price they have no justification to stay in business and shall go bankrupt. Or be nationalized by the French or Japanese or even the US. I DO NOT CARE! All others who can build cars that work in our environment will survive and propser., As it should be in our economy.

I bought an EQV 300 this year and I get around 380km at 110km/h.. I have even got 480km driving at 80-90km/h. So it depends how you drive the car…

Hi Thomas, thank you for commenting. Absolutely, it depends on how you drive, at what time of the year, how fit is your battery (often with press cars, not very fit as they use rapid charging) and a few other factors. Mercedes has tweaked and updated some of their systems so in theory, they should have improved.

Great review Anna, I wasn't expecting this review of the EQV, I was expecting to see the EQC but still great anyway. Seem like you been really busy over the Christmas time. Does the EQC have the same range problem as the EQV especially on the motorways? I guess I'll have to wait until that review comes out. You 2 are now way fatty's by any stretch of the imagination.
