I have a 2008 Gl 450 in Mexico and unfortunately for this territory there is a struggle to get those parts

I swapped the battery out and took off the ground cable while it was running, and it cut off. So I’m assuming it’s the alternator. The vehicle doesn’t need to be hooked up to a computer after replacing the battery does it?

I dont believe the battery replacement needs to be registered in this vehicle.
