thanks. BTW, there is a procedure for disconnecting batteries; consumer battery first (rear) then the start battery, (front). reconnect front first, than rear. Hopefully you didn't run into problems.

I change mine I was not disconnected the rear battery just the front one. And replacing it with new one just and place the engine start battery and restart it that was it.

I've a CL600 and I just took out the alternator but didn't know how to fix it with out getting a new 1 specially cuz it's to expensive 1000$ is there any way u know to rebuild it that would be much appreciated.. Do you have to remove the upper radiator hose to remove the fan shroud?

What were your symptoms? I have a 2007 s550 with codes p052d p0300 po301 p0306. And my battery keeps dying also. Replace alternator and cam magnets first?

The battery would keep dying and the car wouldn't stay running. First step to do is check the alternator to see if it's charging

Hey Truth, when replacing the alternator is possible to damage or yank out lines for the power steering?

it IS! Some models have hydraulic hoses attached to a bracket that the alternator bolts capture. 4matic especially

Hey man are you familiar with the S550?! I’m looking to get a 2012 model 4.7 or that generation model your working on , is it a good car to own long term ? My main gripe is oil leaks that’s my biggest annoyance

It's a good vehicle very nice to drive you just need to keep up the maintenance on them. I have worked on a couple generations of the s class haven't seen to many oil leaks but the S class parts and labor hours are more expensive than any other classes of Benz besides the 63 or AMG

Wasnt it easier from bottom

You obviously have not replaced one with the M273 V8. Unless you plan to drop the engine cradle, it's not happening.

@@FleetWoodGlider281 Have you tried removing the right lower engine mount bolt and jacking up the engine? I have universal inverted torx sockets that help to get into these tight spaces.

@@FleetWoodGlider281 I am a former Mercedes Benz Tech. Sometimes it helps to get a better angle to reach those bolts. Jacking up the engine achieves that goal.
