Recently bought an 2012 S212 myself. Hopefully I won’t need too many repair tips but keep them coming. Great content.

Great video as always, thanks for showing the part numbers, taking the time. I use the same fabric tape. Better than electric tape as stops rattles. Used this when I hard wired dash cam. Your very experienced but me being paranoid I would have heat shrinked the wires.
@MB2123 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the part-nr add because it’s take a lot more time to edit with them 😅 Love this fabric tape don’t get stiff as electrical tape and the OEM looks. You got me there forgot about it usually use heat shrink but in this case it’s not going to do any different because nothing would happen if they connect to each other because that’s basically how to fix this issue ☺️

Really great thinking 👌, good thing my w212 never sees freezing weather

Thanks. That’s good you not have to bother about this sensor 😬

In the owners manual it warns that using distilled or deionized water can damage that sensor. Instead of using a float sensor they use 2 prongs...

That’s correct I have used normal tap water pretty much all the time and in summer with mb summer fit the sensor works normally but as soon I used aftermarket washer fluid in winter is going crazy.

Great hack! There is also a Finnish brand called Lasol which makes windshield washer fluid which fits perfect about freezing temperatures with MB cars. It costs about a half of the original MB washer fluid. Unfortunately I'm not sure which markets sells Lasol in Sweden, Rusta maybe.
@MB2123 жыл бұрын
Thanks it drove me crazy warning pop up all time, probably never going to remove this fuse ☺️ Can always have extra fluid in the car. Google that brand don’t think I have seen that before here in Sweden. May check it out next time going to Finland.

By finding suitable size resistor to replace the fuse i would think it would work even during winter. Resistor value would probably be high. 47kohms?

My electrician skills are really poor. Sounds interesting if that would work going to search information about it.

Hi. The original fluid is of a more alcalic type which the sensor reacts to. When the fluid is less alcalic and thereby less conductive it indicates empty. SOLUTION??. Simple, and you do not need to remove a single screw and short circuit the sensor. Just add a few squirts of washing up fluid or similar to make the fluid you use more alcalic and thereby making it more conductive. FIXED! If it's really deffective it is possible to buy a sensor for about $30,- at the right place and actually as low as $12 to $15. 🙂

I've been using warm tap water mixed with Rain-X White RX11806D Washer Fluid Additive (not the booster) and it's winter time now and this warning light won't go away. Even went to Walmart bought the blue 1 gallon winter fluid (two of them) and it's still showing the warning light. I am thinking about replacing the sensor. It is a 11 year old car so maybe that's why

Great video! So what you do is fool the computer thinking everything is OK?
@MB2123 жыл бұрын
Yess now computer think it’s always full and when change back for summer fluid I can remove the fuse and it’s work as normal again. ☺️

Would just unplugging the connector to reservior disable the warning light? I don't want the warning to ever show up again.

Is this repair to ignore the sensors by shorting it out, I thought it was going to be replacing the faulty unit
@jimjam0310f12 жыл бұрын
I was hoping it would show that too. I wanted to know exactly how to get the faulty sensor out the tank.

Great content for us with the S212. Thanks! It help me allot repairing some things on mine. You don't have any video of the replacing of rear air suspension..? It seams not to be very complicated..but is there a problem when the system is completely empty and you need to get it back to level again?
@MB2123 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear the videos coming to use : ) Had problem with the rear air suspension when I get the car from dealer luckily they pay mechanic to change them out for free. But badly I did not got any experience how to change them. Have checked some documents and videos and it’s seems pretty straightforward to change them. When system it’s empty you should be able to pull it up with Jack to level!?
@hellaslundblad3 жыл бұрын
@@MB212 If I got this correct..when you need to change a unit you have to empty the air system to be able to get the unit out of it's position by compressing the unit. If the car is still hanging of the ground then will the level sensors know that the car needs to start fill the system back up? If you lower the car to the ground with a empty system it may go down to much, witch I understand is not recommended. I will pass by my Mercedes workshop in Stockholm and ask them about this. I get back with any answer..
@MB2123 жыл бұрын
Sound that’s your onto something there. Really not know which way that’s are recommended for this replacement. But always good to be 100% sure before start doing things. Like to hear the response 👌
@hellaslundblad3 жыл бұрын
@@MB212 I spoke to a Mercedes mechanic about this. They use the workshop computer to control the compressor when they refilling the air system. This because it's important to guide the bellow to it's correct position, especially the top part. If you just start the car the system will fill up all the way at once, that could get it harder to find the right position. So how to to do this without having a workshop computer..? Do the compressor stops working if you turn of the ignition key?
@MB2123 жыл бұрын
Thanks for respond. When you say that it’s pretty easy to adjust with the computer I got same system as Mercedes use Xentry SD connect. Not really sure about that seems that many change them without notice about that. Going to read more about this topic when I have time coming back to this.

I have a '15 E350. Any reason not to use a blue scotch lock and connect the two wires near the sensor? I don't ever need a low fluid warning.
@MB2123 жыл бұрын
Then your method working flawlessly! I like to remove this sometimes and if I sell the car I like to remove it easy that’s why I doing this way.

question, fluid is full and pump not running on, is that because my check fluid warning is on? meaning if check fluid is on warning , that makes the pump not turn on so no washer fluid will come out, ?
@MB212 Жыл бұрын
No the probably cause is you have wrong fluid and sensor not detect. You can test it to add only water in container. If not the sensor is broken.
@NW_DB Жыл бұрын
@@MB212 ok and if I bypass like the video it should work? Or ? Sorry for questions just clearing up?, but I don’t hear the pump or anything just the wipers back and forth!

I read again if you have fluid and is not coming out is has nothing to do with this then probably pump or some other things not working.
