fegh, honestly the difference in v8s vs V12 isn't the power itself but the delivery of it, v12s will give you steadier more consistent acceleration, which feels like you're not going as fast

The V12’s were quicker apart from the W222 AMG s63, which was faster being 4matic. Otherwise v12s are faster.

@E Double I own an S600 V12 and have driven an S63, and the V12 smokes it. But as my comment says the newer W222 - yes the S63 4Matic beats it. A rear S63 won't beat a V12 0-60 - both RWD - S65 has 1000nm vs the 900nm, plus the extra 30-40HP. It would be very close though still.

@E Double Bruh are you reading my comments or not? I said all V12's BUT a W222. I'm saying ANY V12 prior to the W222 which you have will beat a V8. But yes the W222 S63 beats the 65's regardless 0-60. I was driving the S63 lol I can noticeably tell it was slower than my V12.. Even the manual says the S65 is fastest, then the S600 which I have, then the S63 then the S550 etc etc. The W140 V12's were nothing on the M275's. Great cars just the motor wasn't near as powerful. What motor does your 2018 have? The m157 or m177?

@Matty231 - You talk bullshit. Not only has the S63 more horsepower, it has also less weight. And on top it has the AMG-speedshift. And thats why the V12 does not beat the S63, not as 600 and not as S65.

@@MrZillas Since 2017 the facelifted W222 has used the 7 Speed 'Speed Shift' lol. And yeah as E Double said, it has more horse power AND torque. 1000nm vs I think 800ish for the S63. But yeah from a start the S63 W222 is faster.

V12 twin turbo.. Wow.. TBH I never knew they made that, I was always under the impression it was all V8 TT's, Shows you how heavy the cars are with the over 4 second times, that said, it would definitely be a 3.5 if it had launch control. Edit, I just realised the Maybach DID have launch, but obviously cause it was rear wheel drive it took a while to grip. AWD would have definitely taken it under 4. Still, very quick for a luxury sedan.

The test was unfair for the w140 600sel. You started the count down way before the car literally started moving. If your testing was right, then the car must have a problem. The manual says 600sel's 0-100km is 6.0 seconds, and also you made anther mistake by doing the same testing with AMG versions from w220 and onward. You should have done the same testing with S600 for w220, w221 and so on.

Thanks for your feedback. I don't think the w140 had a disadvantage and the timer started accuratly. And yes those amg versions may be unfair but I wanted to compare the fastest version I could find

Stop watch off the speedometer means NOTHING , @ 1:48 you can see GPS real timer says 4.4s and you put 4.2..😂 all these acceleration videos off the speedometer are not accurate at all , GPS or nothing.. anyone with a brain knows what I am talking about , so many cars speedometers are way off the real actual speed . These are only ok for and "idea"

I don’t like Mercedes-Benz S-Class after W140 or 1999. The quality and prestige was pretty much gone !
