Mercedes-Benz S-Class W221 Xenon HID headlight repair and upgrade kit DIY installation

In this video, we repair and upgrade the Mercedes-Benz W221 headlights with some new Aharon HID bi-xenon projectors (3" E46-R). The upgrade is usually quite big because of the burned original projectors. So when you have a bad light output from your W221 headlights, this kit is a good upgrade for the lighting, guaranteed!
Output shot @11:39 The hot spot (brightest part in the middle of the pattern) is visibly brighter than the original one.
The headlight needs to be opened to replace the projectors with the OEM and DEPO version headlights this is not too hard because of the sealant that is used (in this video DEPO ones are used).
For the high beam, some wires need to be re-arranged. Which wires to use, can vary between make/model. A good option to be certain is to check which wire gets 12v + signal when high beam is activated (we could not do this because we did not have the car, only the headlights). This needs to be connected to the white wire of the projector.

Retrofitting refers to the addition of new technology or features to older systems. These days there are a lot of people who put a simple plug & play xenon kit in their halogen headlight housing in an attempt to improve night vision and looks of their vehicle. In fact they don’t realize that their headlight beams are often worse than before. Night vision achieves relatively little improvement on night vision because of a poor beam pattern, which increases the blinding of other road users. This is because their headlight housings are designed for halogen and not xenon.
A true Bi-Xenon projector update is now possible for your car. Such an upgrade will significantly improve your light output from 700-2100 lumens to 2800 and 3500 lumens, without blinding other traffic with glare from your headlight. Upgrade your headlight OEM style!

I have a car mercedes s w221 2013 from Japan, and there you drive on the other side. I live in Austria and would like to replace the projectors in my car in the hope that only by replacing the projectors will the car's headlights comply with EU regulations again. Is this possible just by swapping projectors? please help!

I dont have a oven to use but i see that you used a paper box and used it like a oven. So you put headlight in a box and make a hole for the heat gun?

Yes, That is correct. For optimal heating you could choose to elevate the headlight as well so heat can go underneath and around. Make sure you face the glass of the headlight away from the direct heat of the heatgun.

I heard that in the EU you can only drive with an asymmetrical light/reflectors on the right side . Is this possible only with software? Thanx a lot!!!

As far as we know, in xenon headlights this is not possible only with software. It is also not possible on all headlights/projectors, but sometimes it is possible to switch the pattern between LHD and RHD with a lever on the projector.

@@abdyldili9090 sorry not for this specific model, you could try to take a look through the opening where you can change the bulb, usually when there is a lever on the projector you would be able to see it.

How do you re-glue the headlight lens?

The headlighs is sealed with butyl, you can just re-use the original sealant/butyl by heating it and pressing the lens back on. When permaseal is used, you need to seal it with headlight butyl: retrofitlab.com/products/butyl-rubber-sealant

Sorry could you please explain what you mean by polyurethane sealer, most common are butyl which is easy to open en the hard 'permaseal'?

This is a misleading video. The light assembly is aftermarket and not OEM. The bottom does not have the two lighting control modules. The OEM projectors have no front facing screws.
