Hey did you have to perform a reset afterwards at the dealership? I heard that may be something that has to be done afterwards so I figured I would ask. Thanks in advance

Thanks to your video. Yesterday, 10/13/2020, I changed both the main and auxiliary batteries in my 2015 Mercedes S550. It took about 40 minutes to change both. No problems! Easy. You get high marks from me on showing us how to do it. Also, I had watched another KZbin video on the best batteries to purchase (which I did and I used their recommendations) and saved an additional 15% buying them from Advance Auto Parts.

@@ryans-d7d Yes, I keep records for all my vehicles. I purchased the Diehard H8AGM Platinum battery with a 3 year warranty and for the Auxiliary battery I selected the BCI Group Size 400. The batteries cost me $200 and $119.06, respectively,

What about the starter battery on the 2013 - 550 SL Behind the passenger seat. How to access it and does it require a trickled charge or charging the in the trunk battery suffice to charge both, during mints of non use.

I was quoted just under 900$ to replace the battery on my 2014 s550 is this a fair price? Seems like labor cost should be like 80$ tops after what I just watched.

Very well explained video. My S-Class 2014 (W222) battery has been showing some signs of weakness and I was thinking of changing it myself but is it that simple as you have have explained. I am hesitant in case it may show fault codes or need resetting afterwards, any thoughts

For some reason, I couldn't access those additional videos. Can I use a spare small battery and connect it to the terminals under the hood while I replace the main battery in the boot, would that method work

Do you have to reset any codes to replace the battery?
@ferrarif430lover2 жыл бұрын
Nicely done video but I think you need to discuss how to reset the ECUs if you don't have a way to maintain power in the system while changing the battery. Using a charger as you do, on a Ferrari of the same vintage, can destroy the ECUs (thousands of dollars). They provide a restart sequence once the new battery is in so the ECUs can relearn and not be damaged by possible current spikes.

I replaced the battery on my 2011 and now I have a white “charge battery” message in the doc that I can’t get rid off, also the left side steering wheel buttons stopped working, it shows no codes when scanned with a snap on scanner :(
@carlos4394 жыл бұрын
The Battery Shop hello, thanks for the reply, we have a snap on scanner but after reading all modules, it doesn’t find any battery related codes. We could not acces the power supply module with the scanner for some reason, but the car is working all good, the only thing I cannot get rid of the charge battery message because the left side steering wheel buttons stopped working as well
@jamstagerable4 жыл бұрын
Carlos Rivera Sounds like your scanner doesn't have all the software functions. I had the exact same issue and just went to a local shop that had a top of the line scanner that was able to quickly reset the "charge battery" message which then the the steering wheel buttons then worked properly.

Did you use the battery charger to save the memory as shown on the video? I want to change myself but not if it causes a bunch of problems.
@carlos4392 жыл бұрын
@@jamstagerable i still have the same error in my dashboard 😂 took it to the dealer, they diagnosed the alternator, I replaced 2 alternators because the message wouldn’t go away, then I took the car to another shop, they tried to diagnose the issue, but couldn’t, they ordered a new ECM and programmed it to the car and it wouldn’t go away. The mechanic told me the only thing their scanner picked up was some signal wire that goes from the alternator to the ECM that read under/over some millisecond latency but he couldn’t figure it out 🤷🏻♂️ also, the message is red. If I disconnect the battery for a while, the message comes up white but changes to red after some time.

What kind of engineer would design a battery placement such as that? It's proof intelligence is measured on a circular scale without any stops.
@h8GW2 жыл бұрын
Obviously it was designed for everyday weight distribution purposes, since a battery replacement is a relatively rare event -that is, if Mercedes had used a quality battery.-

I believe a new battery also has to be registered with a scan tool. Very expensive.
