Mercedes Benz S580 v Lexus LS500: WHO IS KING OF LUXURY?!

2021 Mercedes-Benz S580 vs 2019 Lexus LS500: Who is the king of luxury?
Mercedes-Benz and Lexus are two King brands in terms of luxury and are the go-to brands for so many people around the world. In today’s video, a wonderful colleague, CarContinent and I debated between ourselves for the better flagship sedan between the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S580 & the 2019 Lexus LS500.
While they’re years apart, the Lexus LS comes standard with exceedingly modern features such as the heads-up display, soft-close doors, motion-sensor power tailgate, as well as many other driver assistance and luxurious features.
The 2021 S-class, however, comes more updated with more features including airmatic suspensions that raises the car once a potential side impact is detected. The Mercedes MBUX system was also updated with more compatibility and features being displayed via the new vertically rectangular 12.8” OLed infotainment screen with haptic feedback and a 3D view that monitors the driver’s eyes and moves accordingly. A longer screen spreading out through the dashboard was placed to display the high-tech digital gauge cluster. Burmester speakers were not left out as well as rear-axle steering which reduces turning circles significantly and a lot more of luxurious and technologically related features.
The LS500 comes powered by a 3.5l twin-turbocharged V6, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission sending all 416hp & 442lb-ft to the either the rear or all wheels. A hybrid version was also made available.
The S580, however is powered by a 496hp & 516lb-ft 4.0l twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system that adds 21hp & 181lb-ft to the mix and is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, sending all power to all wheels (4matic).
While plush leather, other expensive materials and loads of features were added to give the cabins of both cars a very luxurious feel, CarContinent insists that his Lexus LS500 wins as it offers luxury for less but we’d like to know your opinion. Which of these two cars is the better flagship sedan and why?
