What a beauty! So many memories... I was a little boy, but the startup sound and even the sound that closing the door makes remains in my subconscious. My dad used to own one of these and I freaked out each time he pulled out of the garage on special occasions... Sadly we sold it when I was 5. What are the maintenance costs on these? They hold their value pretty well, but I'm wondering if you have to pay a fortune to keep it going. Thinking of buying one as a weekend car in the future, what should I expect? I'm aware it's not a Prius, but would like to stay within rationality as a weekend car :)

try and get the newer sl500 and not 500sl. I have a 500sl m119 and sure they're reliable and all but they're just old and shit starts to go. Also working on and finding someone to work on a one off engine like the m119 in 2023 is not so easy they're all either retired or dead.
