The Unimog Museum is currently closed, but we are opening the doors of our Unimog Club Gaggenau archive 🎬. The Mercedes-Benz Unimog 404 S was and has been a loyal helper in the military, industry and construction sector ever since, as this video impressively demonstrates.
The Unimog 404, also known as Unimog S and Unimog 404 S, is a vehicle of the Unimog series from Mercedes-Benz. It was built from 1955 to 1980 by Daimler-Benz at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Gaggenau. Two types were produced, the 404.1 and the 404.0, with a total of ten models, which were marketed as Unimog U82 and Unimog U110. A total of 64,242 vehicles were built, making the Unimog 404 the most frequently built Unimog series. In addition, it is considered to be the best known Unimog to the public.

1981 bei der BW den 404 mit Doppelkabine gefahren. War auf dem Übungsplatz zum Ruhen für den Schirrmeister :-))))

Hab mir dieses Jahr im Frühjahr einen alten von Bj 64 in Einzelteilen zerlegt gekauft. Nun ist das Fahrgestell fast fertig, Elektrik und verschlauchung fehlt noch, ansonsten ist es fertig. Nächstes Jahr kommt die Kabine dran. Ich freu mich schon auf die erste Fahrt mit dem voll restaurieren Schätzchen.

Danke für diesen Film. Die 22 Liter Verbrauch die ich in einem Museum gelesen habe waren wohl auf 50 km. Nun die Forderung bei der Entwicklung waren ein Allradfahrzeug mit 1,5 t Nutzlast und 80 km/h Geschwindigkeit. Das war Mitte der 50er nur mit Benzinmotor möglich und ohne Mehrwertsteuer und Mineralölsteuer für die Bundeswehr auch wirtschaftlich kein Problem.

🤭🤭 der Verbrauch unserer 1,5 to Funkkoffer, hat uns immer zu Pausen gezwungen 🤣🤣 6 Zyl. Benziner, was ein Wahnsinn...

Kevin Heinemann ... und was lügst Du dir sonst noch in die Tasche? Der Markt hat doch gezeigt, dass weder der Mog noch der Trac für Agrareinsätze so gut geeignet ist, wie richtige Traktoren. Der Trac hat eher die schechten Eigenschaften (lange Federwege) des Mog übernommen. Als hochgeländegängiges Fahrzeug war der hier gezeigte Unimog sicher herausragend, der Rest ist Wunschdenken. Ohne Aufträge von Bundesbehörden und Gemeinden wäre der Unimog nie wirtschaftlich gewesen.

Wir hatten die in der Marine Sich Kp da fuhr das HEER schon die 2t und dann gabs da bei fliegenden Verbänden noch ne Version des 404 mit grosser Stahlkabine mit extra Sitzreihe und Ballastpritsche o.ä. die schoben 80 schnee auf der basis und ich glaub das die Dinger mit Automatikgetriebe waren , hörte sich jedenfalls so an. Muss wohl ne Art Schleppervariante für den fliegerischen Bereich gewesen sein

My first Mog was a 404 I think it was a 68 or a 69 but it was in perfect condition when I got it all updates had been done new paint all electronic ignition and circuit breakers etc. it was a great truck. The only flaw with the 404 is HP or should I say the lack of it! I found myself in Low Low much more than I wanted to be and driving it on the highway was usually in the 35 to 40 mph range, I dont like to push on engine to hard. I enjoyed the truck for 4 years then upgraded to a U1300L its a much more friendly able to do much more than the 404 was. But we all have to start somewhere!

Great off readers! I bought an ex Belgian Army ambulance version fitted with a van hool body. It came to the UK in the back of a truck delivering goods to a LIDL distribution centre near where I had a workshop. It took 5 months to repair the body and mechanical bits to get it through an MOT and registered. Didn't need the MOT as mine was the 1st registration, the Army life did not count. Got the registration papers with no problems and drove it around for a couple of months until I found it was too heavy for my license. It sold quite quickly to a guy who wanted it for a military museum in the west country. UBD63G I hope you are being looked after.
