Thank you for such an detailed video on this topic. I'll be replacing one on a w220 in soon. One thing I plan to do alson while I'm in there is replacing the air filter that the supply hose connects to. If moisture has gotten through from an aged dryer it could be fouled.

My tip is to replace three other parts as well: Rubber hose with filter holder, air filter, and hose from filter to pump. They can snap after a few years on the road, and suddenly dust and water goes straight into the pump.

By any chance do you know exactly where the top hose to the filter connects?

Is replacement of the relay necessary, or is it preventative?
@OMGWTFLOLSMH Жыл бұрын
If it's still working, it's preventative. Some relays short closed and keep the compressor running until it burns out, so in that case it's maybe a good idea to replace them periodically. This happened to my secondary air injection pump. Bought a used one for $150 but had I known about the problematic relays and changed them, the original pump would still be in there working fine.

Does the relay come with the new pump or is it purchased separate? Thx

The relay is typically included with the purchase of a new compressor.
