It's crazy that Merc and others force you to connect to their network and hence the high fees. Someone told me years your annual Merc diagnostic membership is over £10k per year. Probably double that now so we can appreciate why you have a minimum charge to plug laptop in 👍 Modern cars are way too complicated. I'll stick to my 2002 SL55 😅

50 years ago, there was such a thing as Technical Service Bullitan or TSB. These alerted mechanic to issues and how to fix them.

You are expert, here in Croatia dealership can not fix my push to start problem. They hook up diagnostic,no faults stored and after that they give me back my car with claim thet everything is ok. It is w205 c220

Your experience and knowledge also has to be paid for and the customer might not appreciate it. But, getting the problem fixed first time is cheaper than running around trying to save money. These cars are complicated. That's why you need an expert.

So useful to know this. I bet many an auto elec has stripped doors down to attempt to remedy. Never ceases to amaze me that people expect diagnostics to be free! The kit is a fortune.. even for non genuine stuff. Yet people expect it gratis! Crazy world!

My Spring shopping decision is SL 63 V8 or similar. Your channel great. I would rather set aside in my mind £2/5000 pa and get an SL than spend on a Ave brand! Your costs inc labour (plus the VAT later!) seem ok to me for the marque and AMG V8.🎉

Great insight that software gets corrupt. I have just noticed my S213 E63 AMG 4matic has seen the passenger seat stop going back and forth. It is under MB warranty and being seen to but I wonder if they find it is corrupt software as well?

I’ve had this on my E-class. Nearside mirror stuck in open position. In my case (if I remember right) it was a mechanical fault.

It is from GYS it’s there battery support unit trolly. I got it from euro with the battery support unit few years back but I’ve seen plenty of suppliers selling them now.

How much would it cost to check all the modules for software updates and if available to update them? W212 E220 CDI 2009

It would be charged by the hour for checking and £100 per control unit to update. It could be a long process.

This is the way cars are going. Software controlled and you pay for that download. Evs with their lack of fluids and moving parts will be rife with these charges I would imagine. Along with the fast wearing tyres. BMWs famous subscription for heated seats is another money spinnerl
