While you had the wheel off, you should have put a tube of waterproof grease in each front hub. Use a 14 mm allen with the braker bar to open the fitting. I do this every 25000 miles. I use a battery powered grease gun (pump) to make the job easier. This is the one thing most Gwagon owners fail to keep a check on.

You want to open the up the brake fluid reservoir when you are compressing the piston back. That brake caliper press looks nice, I think I found my next tool.

If you are stuck at 19:30, be sure that your parking brake is fully released. If you are still unable to remove the rotor after it has been freed from the axle (the chisel work), it is likely because the parking brake shoes (inside the hub of the rotor) are riding inside the lip created by wear. There is an adjuster located at 10 o’clock on the driver side, and 2 o’clock on the passenger side. You can access this by spinning the rotor on the axle until you reveal the larger holes in the axle. The star shaped adjuster can be spun with a flathead screwdriver to release the tension on the shoes. Push up on the driver side, down on the passenger side. These need to be readjusted with the replacement of the rotor to be just shy of grabbing, but not dragging. Good luck working on your wagon. Great video. Thanks a lot.

@@KRTLyfe Thanks man. Knocked it out last week. Like you said, if was pretty straight forward, but the incredible Hulk must have put my lug nuts and my caliper bolts on. Crazy! I used that caliper spreading tool on the front but it was useless on the rear. Wouldn't fit. Had to use C clamp.

I put the jack stands under the frame. I have never personally seen that setting but it sounds like something you would need Mercedes Star to do. I was able to do it just fine the old fashion way.

Explain the C-clamp. I don't understand that part. And do I need to take the top off my brake reservoir as others have told me to do?
@KRTLyfe
@KRTLyfe 3 жыл бұрын
The C clamp is used to force the pistons back into the caliper. You can take the cover off just be careful for fluid overflow.

Can you explain where to place the jack and jack stand to lift the wheel? I know the suspension articulation is super long so jacking from frame (I heard) is not possible....thx.
@KRTLyfe
@KRTLyfe 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you are trying to do, the surface you are trying to jack the Wagon up on and what type of jack you own. If you want to take a single wheel off it is easier to lift the vehicle by the axle close to that wheel. I would say it is safer.. once again (depending on your equipment) to lift the vehicle by the frame. You can absolutely jack your wagon up by the frame if you have the right equipment. Just to be clear the running boards are not the frame so do not lift your wagon by the running boards. I hope this clarifies any questions you might have.

@KRTLyfe
@KRTLyfe 4 жыл бұрын
Jordan_Crazy23 depends on what you like and how much you want to spend. The older G wagons are very solid and the suspension is firmer than the new one. They are also slower but the prices are typically really good if you can get over the older interior. The newer ones are awesome in every way except the price and the suspension is soft which I don’t really like.
