Are the cams different from the stock engine? Or any other modifications done to it from the original stock versions from factory intake, injectors crankshaft etc.

Hi, thanks for the mail, lots of good questions, there is not much that is the same as the original engine, even the block has a lot of rework.

@@chrisgilbert1217 Damn that sucks because I really like the c9. Def has to be my favorite sounding car. Do you know anywhere that lists the parts/mods done to the engine or anybody else reading this

@@Dake-gw6it A race engine and a street/production engine is two vastly different things. Race cams are the first difference, undrivable in a heavy streetcar but perfect for a high rpm light racecar. Titanium rods and valves is my guess. Dry sump oil lubrication and strengthened block. Its a high compression engine with low boost turbos (0.5-0.8 bars) The awesome sound is because there is no exhaust mufflers, just one turbo on each side and then the fumes exit before the rear wheel. I saw this car at goodwood FOS in 2012 and when you look into the exhaust hole you can see the turbo right on the inside of the panel.

Why without turbos?Is for safety?
@chrisgilbert12173 жыл бұрын
Hi Pedro, we mapped the engine NA first on steady state dyno and then finished the mapping with turbos in car with all the correct cooling and car setup

Embarrasing, but first time I watch the engine displayed in full prescription. What a monster. Should have a 1:1 replica hanging at the dining room wall, if not the wife denied :-)

Do you know the header length? I read SAE paper they counted it for 540 degree exhaust interference.

What are the figueres? How much HP did it measure?
@dominicrichardson55462 жыл бұрын

@@chrisgilbert1217 holy hell :o mercedes Stated the Engine did 530kw roughly 720hp in racemode, wich means it was ristricted i guess?? 500 NA should be alot more then 720 as a Tt
@jjnich49152 жыл бұрын
@@patriklenck1735 restricted due to reliability issues. Even despite it being restricted it still tended to blow in the later stages of Le Mans. Probably my favourite engine. I just imagine a lowered truck with V8 twin turbos and a huge spoiler on the back with a full exhaust system and race suspension and a rear cap and you have a tourer on steroids that you can sleep in.
