Hello from Greece Ivica :) Your channel is the best information source on KZbin for the KE Jetronic and you have my deepest respect for your work. I need your help if you have some time to spend: I own a W201 1.8 (18.000km only) whitch was running fine till 10 days ago. Suddenly on a cold morning I started having an erratic idle and a very curious throttle response. I took it to the workshop and the mechanic found a broken hose rubber cap. He replaced it and the car worked normally, although the idle did seemed a bit low to my ears (the car is not equipped with a rev counter). The next morning the temperature was below 0 celsius (around -2C). When I cranked the car it did turn on as usual but after 4-5 seconds the idle became extremely low, the car started to shaking badly and finally the engine died. On the second attempt I tried to press the throttle a bit but the engine was unresponsive and demanded a lot of fine tuning with the throttle in order to stay alive. However, I managed to start moving slowly. This happens every morning and every time I have a cold start. BUT: When the engine is hot the idle seems to be a bit high(!) and I don't have starting issues. Regardless to say that other than the aforementioned problem (and maybe a bit of increased consumption) the car is working fine. Please shed some light on what should I look for, because I live on a village far from the capital and mechanics who know KE Jetronic are simply non existent. Hi and thanks a lot for the compliments. The first thing you have to check concerning your cold start issues is to check the coolant temperature sensor(you have it how on my channel). If the sensor is fine then it can be that you have issues with the cold start valve. As for the idle check your crankcase breather hoses plus the rubber boot under the flow meter. That's as much as I can tell. Check out the potentiometer as well as the lambda probe(O2) sensor if you have it. That much I can tell. Happy Mercedesing 😃 and 🍀

Hi Ivica, nice video again ! As you say, on KE3, the ICV raises the idle when starting the car. On KE2, what part should raise the idle then ? On mine, when starting cold, the cars stays at 750-800 rpm whatever happens... Thanks !

That's not good. It should idle circa 1500rpm from cold, then drop to 700-800rpn

@@ronanconnolly2196 That happens on KE3, on KE2 not. On KE2 it should be regulated on the fuel pump relay port 87.

@@mercedeske isn't the port 87 of the fuel pump relay, just the switch on switch off for the fuel pump. Does it control the output of the fuel pump?

At first make sure that your micro switch. Measure resistance(ignition OFF). You will have to get 12ohm +/-3. At first between 3(negative) and 2(positive) and afterwards between 1(negative) and 2(positive) - the same resistance value. Measure voltage, you will have to get 11-14V ignition ON engine OFF. Contact 1 negative,2 positive. Afterwards contact 3 negative, 2 positive. On idle you will have to get 700-800rpm.

Maestro una pregunta la bomba de la gasolina del Mercedes 300 trae en la punta un cheque válvula cuál es la verdadera función de esa válvula ? 1) q la gasolina salga y no regrese o eso ayuda es a controlar el flujo de la misma. En el caso q se eliminé que pasaría?

la cheque válvula tiene que mantener la presión. ¡Si no hubiera la válvula, la presión no podría acumularse y el coche funcionaría mal, por lo que NO DEBE ELIMINARSE!

What if my idle ,when cold, stays up for an unusually long time? It sometimes takes 2-3minutes of driving for the rpm to fall. My ICV has a 3 pin connector and it seems like it works. Cleaning it didn't help

Hello. Pin1(from the top) is the ground and it goes to the ECU pin3 and the second one is the power supply which goes to the OVP either 87E or 87L. The ground should be a red/white wire. Sorry for the delay!

Hey, i have an W124 M102.963 engine and it haves an issue that when i cold start the car it starts perfect but it stalls. Works perfect after reaching +40celsius i took the wire out of the icv and now it works perfect does that mean my icv is broken?

When the wire is out of the icv the car doesnt hesitate at all and idle is perfect 750 when cold start

It means either the icv gets false data from the ecu or it is not within its specs because of its cables...
