I stumbled onto this recently as I was searching for ideas for a project I am planning. First, let me say thank you for your passion for one of the best,yet most underrated engines ever made. I also have 2 m120s for future projects,both from 1994 donors,I have a 722.3 still on the one. I have a fair amount of m120 parts if you should need anything to make this work,my sl600 didn't have an engine when I bought it about 10 years ago now, so it was my first experience with one,and what a ride its been. I parted out an sl600 for one of my donors and my main focus was the drive train, I love these engines and have found them to have one of the most unique sounds out there when set up with proper exhaust. I have my sl600 as a cat delete with stock exhaust and am very pleased with the sound. My thoughts are to find a 3rd gen Celica gts for a project, but I also have been kicking around the idea of a square body C-10 as a recipient, not sure what way I will go yet. But your work thus far is invaluable as you are paving the way for a small handful of peope who share a love for these things,my delay has been precisely what you are addressing here with fuel management. What part of the country are you in? I am on PA. Thanks again for your willingness to put this together,and as for myself,I would be willing to purchase a "kit" perhaps of all the components you have assembled to make this work,just a thought if you are looking to market this,I know its not a huge market,but something to consider.

I would be willing to buy one of said kits too. parts list, components, instructions and MS config file. I have a W140 with the V12 M120 that is starting to get uncontrollable limp modes. I am contemplating a method to get rig of the old MB ECUs, and switch to megasquirt with manual throttle actuators. So, I hope you will be making such an offer.

Getting a M120 and getting it running on a standalone ECU is a project I've been wanting to do for over a year now... I don't have the time/space to do it at the moment, but I look forward to following your project.

This is so interesting! Love the old scope! As long as it still works for you, what the hell. Again, just following along brings back a funny memory from my parents basement. Long story short, I assembled a 327 small block Chevy on a engine stand with the headers upside down so to exit out the basement window. I fired it up, warmed it a bit, got the timing about right, blipped the throttle a couple of times too many and too far. The engine started to go over and I made the mistake of grabbing the exhaust header to stop it. Lesson learned! It all seemed like a good idea at the time.

oh man... painful lessons usually stick though!! I had a 327 in my old storage unit and we couldn't get the mix right on the 850cfm carb (came with it, too large for a stock motor), so it breathed fire...looked cool, never ran right.

@@TheRustedGarage They were good engines in their day. It was the cheapest way to go fast. This particular engine had 2 660 Holleys sitting on top of a tunnel ram intake. 461 heads with the big valves, ported and polished by wing and prayer. Descent flat tappet cam of I forget. Aluminum rods and flywheel among a bunch of other goodies. Funny thing was it never saw a car. I built it, ran it in the basement and had the best of intentions, disassembled it and sold the parts. That was a long time ago. I was around 20 years old. I had a lot of fun back then. Always had an engine hanging off a tree limb in my parents back yard. Built a lot of engines, some spit out parts they needed and some didn't. Fun stuff! Learned a lot.

Sold my twin turbo ls swapped cutlass and am in the early stages of planning an m120 build. BMW dual clutch. TBSS awd transfer cage, in a....not sure yet. Thinking 71-73 boat tail Riviera with a differnt front clip. Im betting these m120s will be expensive and hard to find soon.

Ive also been looking for the flexplate. Do you have an engine code, model year, or chassis code that flywheel came on? Ive been looking with no luck. I dig the build.

1996+ SL, CL, S all had it. When in doubt check the coils. Any engine that has the 60-2 has coil over plug ignition coils.
