@4:10 you mentioned the economy gauge possibly doubling as a boost gauge, and in fact at least the diesels boost matches perfectly the range that the gauge moves :D the needle has to be moved a little but after that it just works!

I'm not sure if the arm bends on the trip meter or if the spot where it makes contact wears where they rub. either way you fixed it so good job on that.
@TheRustedGarage10 күн бұрын
I’d have to check again but I’m almost certain that arm bent slightly due to the amount of force needed to push the odometer gears in, and the lack of leverage it has. It’s also aluminum

So what other repairs have you had to do since rhe video ? Where is rhe best place (besides the dealer) to get parts ?
@TheRustedGarage16 күн бұрын
I recommend getting maintenance parts from scuderia parts. Some things are absurdly expensive like lower rear control arms. Dig around a little bit for the expensive bits. There is often an alternative solution. Also the heater core job is very expensive. The factory Maserati part wears out because it is poorly made. Someone makes a solid capped replacement. Same p/n as Saab 9000.
@Mr_BUSINESS_24_716 күн бұрын
@TheRustedGarage I noticed someone saying something about the Saab heater core does the job !! I CAUGHT THAT !! That's cool !!! I'd like to get an affordable Maserati Coupe and an Aston.
@TheRustedGarage14 күн бұрын
@ I’ve owned an early V12 DB9 and this. The Maserati has that old school Italian charm and was a blast to drive. The Aston was more fun in every other category and perhaps more reliable. Either car is fun in its own right for the budget given.
@Mr_BUSINESS_24_714 күн бұрын
@@TheRustedGarage What about service manuals ? Are they online somewhere ? I joined a few of the Maserati and Aston fb groups to see what I can learn there too. I looked up the price of a wheel bearing on a Cambiocorsa lol $800 ish. fuel pump wasn't too horrible at $470
@TheRustedGarage14 күн бұрын
@ you’ll pay more for either example with a manual transmission. The average manual DB9 is in the 60K range. I’ve seen a couple Maserati’s with a manual in the mid 20s. Still plenty of other things to break and they can get expensive. Good move looking up prices of parts because you can save labor doing it yourself, but you really can’t cheap out on parts for these cars.
@Roland-rv9cw20 күн бұрын
So how much is a Heater core worth ? I'll try looking it up. On your other video i said i can buy 1 from a Collector here in Vancouver Canada for ONLY $ 12,000. Canadian that's like $ 9k USD
@TheRustedGarage19 күн бұрын
If I recall correctly the dealership budgets 18 hours of shop labor for that job. I did find a few how-tos if you’re a DIY-er. Shouldn’t need any special tools. I sold mine bypassed & disclosed, like most owners who sell cheap ones.

I wasn't a fan of Aston Martins until my dad bought one. My dad owned a 2005 DB9 and it was such an incredible car. The service and maintanence is expensive but you get your money worth from owning the car. It's super reliable.

Check that the heater core was replaced at some point and the rear lower control arms don’t have play in them. You will spend $4000 in parts replacing those, but there are a couple people that make their own units for substantially cheaper if you dig a little bit that are just as good.

My w201 has same issues where the gear has pushed out. But how do I remove the gear to scor the shaft and put loctite. When I try to remove it the shaft comes with it. I’m afraid to remove the whole gear with shaft. Not sure if everything will fall to pieces.
@TheRustedGarage3 ай бұрын
Your fear is valid because that’s exactly what will happen. I have an older video I made of diving a little deeper into just the odometer portion. Look in my videos around 2019 timeframe you will find it. But the short answer is find a drillbit is the closest size to the shaft so then you can pull the shaft out and put the drillbit in its place holding everything together.

If u have never done the wiring take the car to a shop that does it Daily, have them do it and be done. There's too much to learn. There's too much to it, and in the end, can you take it to the tunner?It's gonna all be changed again !! And it will be runing and driving I've had people that have took the H P Turner's course on programming HP tuners. Was a 2 day and a 5 day Course, if you don't do it every day for a living, there's no need to take that course You are not going to remember it. It is a waste of your time. Trust me. I've seen it first-hand. Save your time spend your money be done !!
