Great work! Thanks for taking the time to make these repair and maintenance videos. There are other Mercedes channels on KZbin where there's too much talking, no work ever shown, and still have the nerve to ask for Patreon money. Makes me wonder if they can actually work on these cars.

Dear sir, my ones 108’s have a Thiny clip under the sponges under the rotor, to keep it in place. This rare clip is like an “u clamp” around the edge of the main axel of the distributor. Very hard to get in place (I use a little ratchet cup to set in place). Then put the little foam sponges & oil. Thnx for ur work👍👍👍👍

Thanks again for this useful Video. My car is a 250 SL and the fuel Injection pump looks sort of identical to this one as far as the adjustments are concerned. Does the same procedure apply to it, identically? Thx again buddy for the awesome work you are doing.

Another point: All the “data” on the manual is calculated on the 0 MSL, but mechanics recommend to ADD 1 degree each 500 MSL. FE Bogotá, Quito, La Paz etc r places over 2300 MSL so we must add 5 degrees ATCD (?)

Hi, thanks for the great video! What does it mean if the idle doesn't change when disconnecting the vacuum hose? Is the vacuum advance valve not working?
@ProblemSolverGarage28 күн бұрын
Correct
@5aldl28 күн бұрын
@ProblemSolverGarage Thanks for the quick reply, another question, if I adjusted the throttle position (butterfly valve as some calls it) by loosening the flathead screw, will this affect anything other than the idle RPM? or it will disrupt the air/fuel mixture?
@5aldl28 күн бұрын
@ProblemSolverGarage to summarise, does the throttle linkage need to be perfectly adjusted? Or there is a tolerable range?
@5aldl28 күн бұрын
@ProblemSolverGarage I adjusted it to raise the RPM while idling and AC is on, because the voltage becomes low when AC is on, because I noticed there are two idling speeds, one with AC on, and one while off, low voltage could be related another problem? Or what I did is good enough? any suggestions?

Hello, I enjoy your great videos. Many thanks for your teaching efforts. May I request your advice in the timing subject? If on my W108 280SE (6cyl) I measure only 20deg dwell angle at 0.3mm point gap. How is it possible? Wear on the distributor shaft? I don't know... Would you recommend to decrease the gap smaller to 0.25mm (or to what?) in order to increase the dwell? Best regards from Hungary.

You should not have heated up the spring. You anneal the wire and change the spring characteristics. You could have just bent the metal cold. You can make your own spring also.

Hello, nice to greet you, I am writing to you from Venezuela because I have a 69 W113 280sl and I have problems with the distributor 051, I put degrees at idle as you explain, however when I accelerate the rpm it does not increase the degrees, when I remove the distributor cover the rotor and It moves easily but does not have any type of spring pressure. What do you think it could be? Broken flyweight springs? Greetings
@georgecurtis6463 Жыл бұрын
Seriously, you working on a distributor without just pulling the distributor out ?

Thank you for the vid. My timing is far more advanced than the book numbers, but when I start to retard the timing back to spec, the RPMs get too low and the car starts to stall. Any suggestions?
@ProblemSolverGarage3 ай бұрын
There's two charts on the Flywheel maybe you're looking at the wrong chart. Or timing scale I should say
@ryank74653 ай бұрын
@@ProblemSolverGarage thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately looking at the inner chart. I’m thinking someone lowered the idle speed adjustment previously.
