This piece of billet costs about $250! New oem intake is $575, yes that's over twice but you get everything replaced. You've got to pull the intake anyway. More important is why did the plastic break. Very often the pcv separator fails and allows oil to be pulled into intake thru the throttle body. Oil burns and cokes on the tumble flaps, limiting their turning. MB makes the levers from plastic as a weak link - they will break before the metal tumble flaps snap. If a tumble flap breaks it can put metal into a cylinder = instant engine trashing. Do yourself a favor - maintain the pcv system and replace the intake before installing overpriced temporary repairs.

This guys a serious expert, such good mechanical knowledge on a tricky engine removal job. The M272 will go down as a classic for its Natural aspiration and raw sound. Top aftermarket product this is!

Unfortunately this part is just 1 of many parts that fail overtime. Particularly internal bushings that hold the flaps in place also wear to destruction. Before you try to repair your manifold, inspect the internals thoroughly, and then determine if you repair or completely replace with a new one.

Nice Vid BTW i got many information which i needed and now i can save some money... Also i have a question. on my 07 W211 E550 sometimes check engine light comes on and when i check it with STAR computer it says manifold problem so question is can there be another problem or i can only have a problem like in this video?

Where are you connecting the vacuum to? The vacuum "actuator?" If so, which one?

Do you have to take the whole manifold out to do this repair or can it be reached whilst it’s in the same place?

there is simply no room for the bolt to come out. there is part of engine about 1/2 inch from the bolt, blocking it from coming out. or putting any kind of tool in there. then again, if you have Mercedes with this type of manifold, you can see it for yourself by opening up the hood, and removing the engine cover.

I have an m273 e550 coupe 2010 and there is a loud high pitched noise coming from the front of the intake manifold. Could this part be my issue? Or do I need a whole new manifold? I don’t have any codes. But when I spray the area the noise goes away.

I get a similar sound, and I believe it may be an air leak, vacuum leak, or having to do with the round air pump that has a sharp elbow - black rubber hose in the middle of it

@@robertmorgan2219 I thought it was that round air pump at first also but that thing only comes on when the car starts it’s an emission device. I am not sure if I resolved the issue because every mechanic told me it was the intake manifold and I changed it myself but haven’t 100% confirmed if the noise is gone. I would suggest taking it to a specialist and seeing if you have an evap leak somewhere there are a lot of hoses in that area. Also I was thinking it could be a fuel injector as well.

I know this video is old..... but..... this repair is a waste of time and money. The biggest problem these intake manifolds have, is the plastic pieces inside. Those can actually break off and cause issues. The outside lever does not turn the check engine light on and does not cause any drivability concerns. The best and only acceptable repair is to replace the complete assembly with a new or genuine remanufactured unit.
