Mercedes M278 M157 Tuning: Copying MBT to Base Timing and Wastegate Control Using HP tuners

Using HPtuners interface I interpolate and average the mbt tables with base tables. I also go over the wastegate duty manual control which makes a huge difference. About halfway through I mention the overboost being set at 2.5 psi may throw codes.

acc. to wastegate, if you have no boost in 0% or even 20% of throttle you can't force WG spring to open WG valve. so you will get closed as long as pressure is lower than spring force. if you set 99% or )% you will get same result.

Can o2 sensor read outs be adjusted via the tune ? I wanted to do castles dp and was concerned about smog test my 2018 will probably require one soon , eurocharged said that they can do so check engine done not come up but they mentioned that during test sensors will show as not ready , I know some are using spacers in catless dp but wanted to see if there was another way ? Thanks !

That is true no CEL but a "not ready" if you disable some of those. I'm not sure I can post anything here legally.

Is that a detuned v8? You can run like 21-22 psi+

@@avetannahihundiapunj 1000 hp crank 789 whp is often thought of to be the maximum for m157 & m278 before you need to upgrade the internals. You'll need turbos and methanol to get there. Madness Motorsports got 789 whp out of a m278. Demetre of DTKM 789 whp of CLS 63 (and sells his kit for like 10k). And Weistec mentions over 1000 hp you need to upgrade the engine and build the transmission. Theoretically you could get to something like 1400-1500hp out of a fully built m157. You'll likely want to limit the torque in some situations to apply that.

@@TunedMercedes ohh okay, that is some great info.. m getting a pre made tune from well reputable tunner, he claims 670hp and 1030nm of torque, he said its for complete factory stock motor, That means it should not hurt the motor at all?

@@avetannahihundiapunj That should be very safe depending on the tune. If you get any misfires you may need to change spark plugs. I'd likely ask the tuner what they suggest.

I have an M278 with a cat delete and a tune on 91. How much hp will I make on E50 and full E85?

e40 custom tune will gain about 30-50hp. full e85 is around 600 whp but costs a lot for the hpfp. we may try to build one for less than 5k spool hpfp

@@Nousername750 Different dynos read different amounts. For us we focus on internal tq/hp calculations as that is what matters most in Bosch MED17.x tuning.
