A much-needed video; thanks. It takes some patience to really understand how these mechanisms work, but it's worth it. Otherwise, it's easy to get frustrated and start muscling the handle which ensures that something breaks. A weak point of this design to be aware of is the fitting where the cable meets the handle (shown at 9:37). If too much pressure is put on the cable, the fitting can bend and the cable will pop out. It's worth inspecting and servicing this entire system once a year.

Great video. It’s been 16 years since I’ve opened the top so this is a needed video for me. It makes me want to pre-make the tools ahead of time. Putting heat shrink on the wire will prevent scratching. Thanks Mike for your videos❤

Another amazing video, thank you. Let me know when you plan to replace your soft top, as mine needs replacing too!

Will do. I’ll have a check around for prices of both the roof and the fitting before I decide whether to attempt it myself. Mike

@ I’ve seen some YT videos of people doing them selves. I’d rather get wet! 😝

@@Nilfaultfound22 Yes...it looks quite tricky and my gut feeling is that it is one of those jobs best left to the professionals....we'll see. Mike
