Certainly a better idea than the last video i watched with two hacks removing the wheel well liner and smashing the tire / rim with a 2 x 6 to free it up before removing 8 bolts to drop the liner. Great idea!!!

Actually that was a really handy tip to move the top up tank out of the way. Gives you a bit more wiggle room. I managed to do the other side as well but there is nothing to move on that side.

There's a special place in hell for the designers of electrical connectors for cars. Houdini-esque release tabs are the norm. And then the brittle plastic connectors used by VW which fall apart with age. Built-in obsolescence is everywhere in this industry. The SLK's heater blower is designed to sit in a plastic tub that fills with rainwater and eventually the motor fails.

A note some models are using xenon bulbs. If you pull off the cap and feel a box it’s a xenon. My suggestion is to take it to a mechanic. I asked the Merzedes certified mechanic they changed the bulb, they removed the bumper. To get room

@@roderickmchardy3650 I asked the mechanic how they Changed the bulb, they took off the front bumper. If you can change it great. But my fat size 11 hands does not fit 🫣 Fyi: I spend hours trying to make it.

Hi Kim ,,, honestly mate ,, it is sooo easy , it takes about 20 minutes to drop the inner wing plastic cover and it is right there , about ten minutes to swap the bulb over , it is a bit of a fiddle getting the holder back in but when lined up it just goes right in,, same time to put plastic inner wing cover back up , ( dont be afraid to be a bit forcefull at times ) and hey presto , £100 save .

With respect, by far the easiest way to do the bulbs is to remove the road wheel. The inner wheelarch liner is split into two parts. Three plastic nuts and 5 self tappers, the liner is out and you are straight onto the back of the headlight and it really is so easy !!!!

@@pdunleavy1982 I just changed the bulb on an R171 V6. I could'nt remove it from the top like in your video, so I removed the right wheel and the fender cover underneath ( just the front part ) - if I will ever meet the fu..ing idiot who designed this sh.. I will let him change bulbs all the day I promise 😉. Anyway, good video but unfortunately I don't have small tiny fingers..

You can remove the wheel well liner without taking the wheel and tire assembly off the car. You have to turn the wheel all the way to the outside to get liner fasteners off. Then turn the wheel all the way inward and you get full access to the back of the headlight housing.

I only had to do this side. If I remember rightly there was more room on the other side. It’s the same process really.

That is a nice short cut for a 4/6 cylinder. I have a "55". Whole different animal. You have to remove the wheel, the wheel liner. Caution all Xenon you must set the light switch to "OFF" !!! The igniter box has a few thousand volts, to ignite the xenon gas. If you are not sure go to Benz.
