What makes this car handle good is its wide frame and wide wheels. The rest you could just consider backup safety equipment. Torque and Power at the rear/front wheels can be a huge advantage, depending on if you need to pull or push yourself. It would be more practical to push your way through a sharp curve. And a 6.3 has lots of power to offer.

You are right for changing pieces instead of destroying the engine. The Germans have a very high quality of Steel. Japan & Italy for example they have to import it and mix it within an alloy of other metals. I Love German cars don't get me wrong...but remember that some hot german cars these days are designed and manufactured somewhere else.

@EndofDays213 The gearbox actually shifts very fast. The lag I'm talking about is the lag between the moment you pull one of the gear shift paddles & the moment the transmission has selected a new gear. The 'selecting a new gear' part occurs quite quickly. Compare this to something like the Ferrari 458 or the McLaren MP4-12C where you can barely even finish pulling the paddle before the gearbox is all finished with the shift you asked of it. It's only a problem of gearbox responsiveness.

However, the number 6.3 is nothing but a throwback to a highly regarded 6.3 liter V-8 that Mercedes made during the 1960s. The engine in this car actually displaces 6.2 liters (6,208 cubic centimeters, to be precise). There are MANY people (motoring enthusiasts, even) who think that every M-B that says '6.3' on the side or back of the car has a 6.3L engine under the hood. Not true.

@EndofDays213 I can actually atest to that. A friend of mind lives next to someone who recently took delivery of his. I was fortunate enough to get a chance to sit in it. The noise the thing makes when you bring that door down to close it really says it all. . . *SHUNCK* Now if only there wasn't an annoying lag between the time you pull a shift paddle and the time the thing actually switches cogs. At these prices, there should really be no waiting.
