Not sure what the purpose of this "DIY " repair was; I came out of it no better than when I went in...!

+Service Department same here. Sometimes there's no obvious fix other than a replacement. Nothing was obviously burnt or damaged.

@@iRepairAutos yes that's obvious, there are no cables to power it or even plain multimeter used and the most basic thing you do to repair something is to connect power and check voltages

This problem is almost always tied to moisture. I have found that attention clearing out the water drain holes ( could be as many as six) keeps water from getting inside the cabin.

An authorized Mercedes Benz radio repair shop will have the proper tools to fix these amplifiers. The memory chips in the unit get corrupted and need reprogramming. Sometimes they suffer moisture damage and cannot be saved.

So what was the “repair”? Opening and checking doesn’t solve the issue. Most of the time the fan motor is Burned which why the sound will come for first few mins and then stop.

I didn’t see a fuse in there? Do u mean under rear seat fuse or under the hood? Or in the amp fuse? Is so what size fuse and where is it?

The amp fuse is located in the trunk for the ML350

Did you find out what was wrong with the AMP? my ML does the same thing and I don't know what to do. It works for 3 mins then off. could it be the fan? overheating? What was the outcome of yours.

Unfortunately my amplifier is completely fried. If yours is working intermittently (3 mins on then off)... It's dying slowly. Check the fan to see if it is coming on. Also check to see how hot the amplifier is getting. It might be shutting down for these reasons. As you saw in the video there's not a whole lot to see inside the amp. It gets really hot hence the heat sink and the fan. Let me know what you find.

ok, i will be taking it out soon. Yes, the sound is on for a few mins and bam, off. I had a feeling it was overheating, bad fan most likely. I'll see if someone local can fix it and let you know.

I have a c class 2012 all the radio functions work except when I turn up and down the volume there is no sound from the speakers, I did a circuit check and it tells me that loudspeakers open, you have a video related to that case.

Would you happen to be able to tell me where I could locate the amp in my 2008 R350? Having the EXACT same issue, but I'm unsure where the amp is located in order to replace.

+Roshan Patel yes it did. I suggest liking at junk yards or online used parts places. New these amps are ridiculous.

iRepair Autos Thanks for your response and video. I found some online for around 450 and one place that will fix my own for 450. Does that sound reasonable or were you able to find it cheaper? Also, if I buy one from another car, is it plug and play or do I need to get the dealer to code it? Thanks again. This is really helpful!

+Roshan Patel it's plug and play. Make sure you get it from the same year and make as your vehicle. No coding needed. $450 seems to be the price that they are going for. Totally not worth it, but it is what it is. The number 1 killer to these amps is liquid, usually from inside the vehicle in the form of spilling coffee etc. Beware of this.

iRepair Autos yes I agree it’s a rip off. I think I will just send mine in for repair since it’s in limited supply as it is and I have a 08 which I can’t find. I wonder if I can cover it somehow so it doesn’t get wet. I don’t recall anything spilling though. Regardless, i still need a radio and an aftermarket one will be just as expensive. +Roshan Patel let me know how you make out. The inside of that area below the seat has some holes with rubber plugs that should be inspected. If they are dry rotted, moisture could get in. Driving in the rain, car washes etc.

Hi can you help with this problem im having? I just had my battery replaced on my ML 350 and afterwards, my Heater/ AC is no longer working, also my display radio screen has been fuzzing out and not working right, any idea what's going on?

+TheKingArthurShow check the fuse for the AC fan blower. When the battery is being replaced it is important to turn off the ignition and all electronic components. Not doing so can cause issues in those components. As us probably the case with the radio display.

17 glc300. No sound. Display and all works. Just no sound. I’ve replaced main battery and aux battery located passenger kick panel. Reset comand. Unplugged satellite wires. Thousand bucks for nothing. Dealer has an open ended cost for this repair as I’m sure they’ll spend hours at 285 dollars per hour and then tell me it’ll cost 1800 for a new amp and 600 bucks in labor. Smh. I’m not putting that kind of money into this vehicle I’ll have this mfr stolen and claim it before I put more than 300 more dollars in it. Am desperate. Please help. What else could it be? I have the whole trunk open everything easily accessible. I don’t know how to use a meter thingamajiggy to check for current or voltage or whatever. I don’t know how to bypass the amp or anything else.

I have the 2008 S63 2008 Amg just turned 40,000 miles. Mercedes’s has tgrcrttrdr, or anything No nav, no Phone, no tv, no sound, no Sirius radio, No audio at jball. The screen is working. Bought 5 bypass loops no luck. Anyone know as🥝🧼😊🤣 Mm

Yup. Sometimes things are not repairable. That amplifier failure required more than just a visual inspection. Oscilloscope and schematics was required for that fix. Way more advanced than what my viewers can do at home.

It helps you know how to locate, remove the device; helps you troubleshoot or bypass the fiber-optic network and more importantly help you not to spend time to cut the carpet just to find out that there isn't a secondary fuse at the unit itself as you have one on command Unit and save you some hassle.
