Mercedes Sprinter Injector Removal

My 2005 Mercedes Sprinter 316cdi got the dreaded Black Death! 🤦🏼‍♂️
I’m far from a mechanic - but managed to get it out myself.

Also there is a resistance problem those leaky injectors shows slow up resistance under 200K ohm very easy test you can tell right away

Hi What part did you spay with foam, and what was the cleaner? Were you getting a rattling sound from your engine? Did you replace any orings?

Hi Erin - the part I sprayed was the injector claw (the piece that the stretch bolt goes through to secure the injector in place) and I just used Selleys Oven Cleaner (available are most stores) - be careful not to leave the oven cleaner foam on too long as it will eat the metal away; spray it, allow it time to work (read product instructions) then scrub the carbon away and wipe away the residue of the cleaner thoroughly... I did replace the injector seal which is what had been leaking -( here’s the video where I remove it kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2LYqIWFpdqpldU) and no I didn’t have a rattling sound from the engine, it’s more of a “choof choof choof” sound coming from under the top injector cover..good luck and thanks for your question!

Eso es mentira camaradas esos inyectores miden más 15 cm de largo y se oxidan. Por el agua q le caí al motor se requiere un estractor de inyectores no salen fácil con la mano como se ve el vídeo

I’m sorry you feel that way friend - I don’t know what water leak you are referring to - but I was able to pry it out without a injector extraction tool. It took a bit of prying backwards and forwards and with a warm engine but as you see it worked.

Mine was too mate - you just have to use a lot of force to move it one way, then back the other and vice versa. I had NEVER done it before, and have no mechanical background - if i can do it mate, anyone can :) happy to help with advice if you need

Here’s some tips - warm up your engine to operating temperature before you begin to help loosen the Black Death; remove the high pressure fuel line and put a long socket on where it connects to the injector (i think it’s a 14mm but don’t quote me on that) to use as a leverage point. I also sprayed oven cleaner around the base of the injector to help loosen the black death; be careful when spraying it - its very caustic and will damage your skin and anything non metal it contacts with, so be sure to wiper any overspray or excess up quickly to avoid this.
