@manfredneulinger39294 жыл бұрын
@bennygoesoverland4 жыл бұрын
Congratulations! That is a really nice vehicle I’m sure you will enjoy for many years to come. I have a question, it looks like you box and cabin are solidly mounted together. How do you deal with chassis flex?
@bennygoesoverland6 жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for your message. The Mercedes Vario 4x4 is not a hardcore offroad vehicle, but was made for construction and forest work. The chassis flexibility is therefore limited. And yes, the cabin is linked with the cab. So far this worked also with the other Varios built by Woelcke und it shouldn't lead to any problems as long as you limit yourselve to offroad "light".
@Equine_moon6 жыл бұрын
Benny goes overland Thanks for the reply. We plan to build something similar with alkove on a MB 1113. That is why I’m asking. I’m sure it can be done, but I might as well get all the info I can! I really love your Vario, but with two small kids a double cab would better for us.

Nice van, nice video. What I dont like about these things is the expectation that create, which is high, and probably will end crashing. Dont get me wrong, it seems everything is pretty ok, it looks spectacular, but that creates expectations, high expectations, which I think its no good. Maybe its just me, that I dont like to get hit, cause that have happened a lot in my life. Anyway, good luck, and again, I liked pretty much your van (wonder how much did it cost, it doesnt seem a cheap conversion).
@bennygoesoverland4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your message. Which high expectations do you mean? Expectations regarding the built quality? Or expectations regarding my driving skills ;-)?
@johnnyofthesticks72604 жыл бұрын
@@bennygoesoverland expectations regarding the set up... you put so much energy, money, time, RESOURCES, that THAT for itself create expectations, and it would be a huge disappointing if the vehicle does not respond like we all want. It is more relaxed I think if you dont put that dedication, like more "low profile" lets say, not expecting something huge, and contemplating the posibility of a failure. I think this could happen beyond how good driver you are, no? Or are you skilled enough to dont let the machine make a mistake?
@bennygoesoverland4 жыл бұрын
@@johnnyofthesticks7260 I think the most important question is, for which purpose should the vehicle be used. The Vario 4x4 was built for dirt tracks, forrest work and road constructions, and we want to use our Vario mainly for dirt tracks, so we use our Vario according to its key purpose. We are not using it to drive heavy offroad tracks, sand dunes etc. In such cases I would agree with you that the potential for unmatched expectations and disappointments would be real.

@@bennygoesoverland yep I think you re totally right picking where to take her. YOUR decission it will be always accurate since you know better than anyone what is her preparred for. But still, there are roads and tracks she must explore, dont you think? just to make sure about her potential. Maybe she ll surprise you. Or maybe she fails in a simple, boring, common road, how can not be sure of that? The key always is to listen the engine, what is she saying, what is her demanding, just to know if youre forcing her too much, if she is comfortable with that road.
