I used to own one mint condition model decades back for a few years and later sold to a persistent collector.. since then had many luxury slavs Germans and Brit’s but nothing came close to my 280S in terms of ride quality drive and seating comfort. The rear seat was a chesterfield sofa to put it modestly.. I still kick myself for letting it go

Simply because of their reliability issues. Mercs were tanks on wheels during 80’s and 90’s, though I can’t say that about them now. Also Americans had their cars running with unrealistically large V8’s and V 10’s during 80’s which didn’t make any sense for a market like India.
