Finally a video that shows me that angle showing the hose setup in the back of the hood area near the throttle body. Annoying! Thank you for putting this together, it's not easy recording and doing this at the same time

I watched this to find out how to get the pcv cover off more easily. Mallet and block of wood worked a treat! Trans dipstick is a pain, just bend it out of the way and bend it back after cover is on. As some others said too, easy to attach/silicon pcv on on a bench. Great video! Love the detail!

Thanks for your time and detail in this video. One of the better posts I have seen, can't believe there are not more views! A parts list, products you use and tools - added to the "MORE"/note area would be a bonus, As an aside, I watched your gender reveal clip (sweet) and thought the confetti was blue but you said girl. What did you get? Thanks again and best wishes, be well.

I appreciate this video. 99% of the videos on this topic only show how to remove and seal the oil breather cover on the passenger side. The y seen to avoid the drivers side like the plague. I was hoping that it would show more detail on removing and replacing the hoses to the back side of the engine. Also, I saw another video where they just took a utility blade and cut slits in the old hoses at the connection points to avoid putting stress on the covers or the hose junction connector. Thanks though. It's a great help.

Great informative video. I have parts on order to do this same job. Valve cover gaskets, PCV hoses/couplers, PCV breather re-seal, and I'm also doing plugs and wires while I have all these things pulled off the engine. Also replacing the crankcase vent valve and the breather connector(the 3 way thingy you broke). I wanted to know if I had to use sealant along with the valve cover gaskets but I guess not! My 2005 C240 is at 118k and is leaking a little oil from the breather and valve covers so I decided to just do this whole job. Thanks for the informative video!!!!

@@a7medsala7aldinNo white smoke, just a rough idle. Turns out on the V6 2.6L M112 engine there is no PCV valve. On the larger engines on the E and S class models there is a PCV valve on the back of the engine, passenger side.

Holy cow that valve train is sparkling. Doing the M112 on a passed down to me CLK and it's wholly carboned up. PCV covers were 98% packed full of sludge; not just the vent hole lol

Do you run full synthetic oil in it? I believe Mercedes requires it for these engines. I run Mobil 1 and change the oil every 10K miles.

@@eatont9999 😃 I have done a few thousand miles on it, but have only started digging into the engine now, so not sure. I know it had a 'bosch' basic service per year, but was driven very little until a couple years ago. It seemed to be very unpredictable in performance from my first drive, and 3 weeks ago l have discovered that the MAF gasket was leaking as it had been greased up and mangled by a 'trusted shop' it went to 6 years / 30k miles ago for an idle stall I believe 🙃. I think it had no spark plugs changed in over 10 years as well, and they were all badly corroded on the outside, but only carboned up inside on cyl 1. What I am fairly sure by now is that at least one of the coils is failing, with the misfire and cylinder deactivation on full throttle / >4000RPM. I wiggled all spark plug wires some weeks back, trying to break the 'weld' to remove them, and that may have stressed the coils a bit more. When I eventually managed to remove and replace the 12 wires, 5 were completed corroded with resistance in the MegaOhms or higher, 3 intermittent, 2 that I broke but probably bad already, and 2 good :-D

You missed a step: put a rag or cardboard over that big hole into the timing chain bay on the driver side breather cover. If you drop a screw down that hole, you will spend up to $6K to retrieve that screw. Due to the tight space, you wont be able to see the screw with you LED camera; the screw is made of aluminum so a magnet wont help you. IF this happens to you, you have to remove the oil pan to find the screw. the oil pan in a V6 112 engine is blocked by sub frame so you have to move that out of the way to get the oil pan off.. Also the oil pan doesn't have a gasket, you have to use silicone to make a gasket. The long story short to save yourself immense grief, put a rag and plug up that hole tightly so you can have greater success to replace those leaky valve cover gaskets and to reseal those leaky breather covers.

My opinion it is best to remove the valve cover from the engine ,,then remove the breather cover using a suitable piece of wood or large screwdrivers to carefully and gradually prise the cover off.

Not really, some of the valve cover bolts are on the breather covers, you would want to torque those while the RTV is still wet.

@@Menga213 Don't remove spark plugs , there is no need to. Also you risk having dirt fall in. When you finish wipe the exhaust manifolds with a rag to clean up any oil that has leaked down while the covers were off.
@Leo555ZZZ3 жыл бұрын
@@christopherstarzyk9209 I disagree , I have done three cars using my method and it works very well. That is how MB did the assembly when they were building the engine. The breather covers are torqued to only 3 or 4 Nm , while the valve cover bolts are 8 Nm. Whether the breather cover RTV is wet or dry makes no difference.

I don't know of any PCV valve on these models. The IAT sensor is built into the mass airflow sensor at the back of the engine. To replace the IAT would require replacing the mass air flow assembly.
