I've purchased mine 1973 w114 280 on CL, so i second your good opinion of the website. One of the wreck-condition w123 we checked out when it was listed on CL sold a week later on ebay for top $$. I felt so sad for whoever bought that pile of rusty metal. Bottom line, unless you are an expert car buyers (you are not, otherwise you wouldn't be watching this video) - you should not buy without seeing the car with your own eyes or have an expert look at it.

I really found a gem on CL '85 300D got it for $750, Had a broken tail light lens, replaced that and preformed routine maintinance. Except for having to replace the ignition tumbler and a 10 year old battery it has been a daily driver for three years now. It was a rust free California model of which I had to replace the giant expensive barrel air filter too. Good luck on your searches.

I would add the BenzWorld classified ads. It also helps tremendously to have a friend or friends in various places around the country, to assist in prepurchase inspections, and also to assist in closing the deal. Long distance negotiating can be a bit of a hassle, having a friend that can help is a godsend. Also, be prepared to ACT! Good deals appear infrequently, so when they do, do NOT delay. You may get like 30% or so off the cost of your car up here in Canada but you get like 70% more rust :-) (unless garage kept) so not that good for w123 but maybe better for SLs or other fair weather cars. We always like to buy cars down south because they are far better structurally and replace stuff like dash pads or door seals that crack in the sun

Thomas, what software are you using to encode - your encodes consistently come out pixelated. It's really not that hard to get the settings right - some of us work in the media so we woudl be more than happy to help out with the settings.

Impalaman's Garage. If it’s 25 years or older it’s EPA and DOT exempt. $100 AC excise tax. 3 percent duty if car is not made in North America. If it’s a personal entry ( not commercial ) you don’t need a customs broker
