I despised metric bikes for decades for what happened to the British bike business in the sixties and seventies but now I appreciate the engineering and longevity of these machines, hell I even bought an eighties Vulcan a few years ago and love it.

I don't think the Japanese killed the British bike industry... it was more a case of suicide... Still we have Triumph doing very well now, while Norton and CCM etc are doing ok on a smaller scale...

Love the old Suzuki GT750 "Kettles" one of my Fav bikes from the 70's. I noticed a blue BSA 650 A10, my old friend back inthe 70's had one of them in that same blue colour.

The Paul McCartney song 'Uncle Albert' has a reference to the 'kettle',I'm assuming they mean the Suzuki kettle 750 gt.

Its held at the Stafford Agricultural showground, in Stafford England, normally in April and October each year.. Due to C19 it was cancelled for 2020, not sure if it will happen in 2021 as yet.

If I bought a few bikes are there shippers that can get my bikes back to Canada?

I'm sure there must be, I know dealers here in the UK regularly bring in classic Harleys and older Japanese bikes from the US. I expect shipping companies would want you to have the bikes ready for shipment and brought to their docking area.. Probably safer to buy from an established dealer and have them arrange shipment. That said prices here in the UK seem to be higher than in the US / Canada?

There were tens of thousands made back in the 70's, but I doubt there are many left in original condition. These days most are being cut up for the hipster market sadly.

Love all Except the Harley's. Such an out dated motorcycle company that needs to go out of business.

They have over 50% of the US market, I doubt they're going anywhere. They do a good job of building bikes that last, that are easy to maintain and hide their tech so the bikes look old fashioned.

Hey, their new engine has dual-plugged heads and a water cooling option, so, they've made it all the way to about 1983. That said, Harley (and Indian) set THE style for motorcycles, which is why the Japanese struggled for years to imitate that style, and are just now finally succeeding. Harleys are no longer the oil-leaking pain in the arse they once were -- and Brit bikes used to be plagues with Lucas electrics. So if it ain't one thing, it's another ... ;)

With the choice of bikes now available i don't understand why anyone would buy a Harley, I've driven lots of them, but no way would I ever get one

Part of it is tradition, part of it is national loyalty, and part of it is the FACT that Harley is making better bikes now, having been forced to, by the success of reliable Japanese motorcycles. Triumph went down, for the same reasons. While I dislike anything with computer controls on all aspects, and don't care for fuel injection, there are many reasons people will still buy Harleys. If you don't get it, well, you don't get it. For the record, I've owned exactly one Harley, two British bikes, and several Japanese bikes.

All the world's motorcycle manufacturers are copying them, not the other way around. Having said that, I would never own one and I'm not one for wearing Halloween costumes while I ride.
