I never appreciated music like this until I heard Angelina sing it. I never had the patience for slow melodies but with Angelina singing, its almost too fast to appreciate all she can pack into a single lyric. 2 years later and I'm still in awe.

This was a much slower tempo than her NGT performance. Angelina slows down many of her covers and she really knows what to do with more stretched-out notes to get the most out of them, something many really good (adult) singers struggle with.

The musicians do rehearse with Angelina before performances, but when Angelina performs live she even shocks the musicians because she is on a totally different level, and as a predominantly jazz singer, she never sings it the same way twice, feeding off the audience and creating something unique every time! If you want to hear the 16 y.o. Angelina then listen to her recent version of “My Funny Valentine”, that is a masterpiece of artistry!

Thanks for your reaction. The Norwegian music establishment quickly discovered Angelina's incredible talent. As 12 years old Angelina released her jazz album "it's magic" together with the Norwegian military band. Bjørn Morten Kjærnes introduced Angelina to the band, which was led by Lars Erik Gudim. Both Kjærnes and Gudim are educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music as a composer, conductor and arranger. And as mentioned below, KORK reached out for Angelina too. They all knew that Angelina was special and unique and incredible talented.

Love seeing your amazement at this incredibly talented young artist. She was born with a gift and has carefully nurtured that gift since childhood. There are many videos of her rehearsing since 6 years old and taking those rehearsals very seriously. "Singing is like breathing to me" quote from Angelina. Angelina always completely envelops the song and sings to make the song the star and not herself which is how she is able to connect so well to the listener. You will see in nearly every performance band members taking notice of how great she sounds and the proud look on their faces. Vocal coaches that I have watched do love reacting to Angelina because not only does she have all the technical skill but in how she interprets and adds feeling to a song. btw, "Summertime" is the most covered song in history along with The Beatles' "Yesterday". Lovely reaction to what is probably the most beautiful version of this song ever recorded. I am certainly not a vocal coach, but I am a musician - and you are right: While Angelina’s voice and technique is breathtaking (except, apparently, for her), it has always been her musicality that blows me away. She can improvise or rehearse to perfection (like here), do any genre, sing as low as Elvis or as high as Whitney, and pour so much emotion into any kind of lyrics that they speak to us like never before. It is a gift…and a lot of hard but hopefully enjoyable work.

Why Angelina is always barefoot. At the age of 6, while traveling through the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl her age standing by the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes to get some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as not to get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who wore no shoes and has scars on her feet and learns that she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don't fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl, who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up, and the girl replied: "I want to be a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings, so I have to do whatever is necessary so we can survive." Angelina told the girl never to give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day for Angelina's dream to come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always walked barefoot to remind her of all the less fortunate children. At the age of 9, she became the youngest published author in the history of Norway by writing a book about this Middle East encounter.

I believe Angelina is 10 here. And of course, she is very serious about her music, and probably could teach a master class on vocal technique already. But as serious as she is about her music, she also has a great sense of humor. Here she is in rehearsal with her band and her uncle/manager Michael begins to primp his hair. There are videos of her practicing with bands and orchestras and she sings in a way that is good but not what she does in the performance. In the practice perhaps she is paying a lot of attention to the instruments to give input and help them understand her vision of the song. In the performance she comes alive and leaves the players stunned at times. Her version of this timeless classic is my favorite (all performances, each w/ some differences). Thanks for reviewing it.

She has performed with KORK on a few occasions and they are a fabulous Norwegian Orchestra. I am Norwegian, like Angelina, and I have been following her since she won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 7-8 in 2014. It seems fom your comments that you are not yet aware of WHY Angelina ALWAYS performs barefoot, so I'll give you a short update : When Angelina was 6 years old, her family went to The Middle East for a visit. There, in a market, they saw a little girl, weighing people on a bathroom scale, to be able to support her siblings. They were orphants. Angelina befriended the other girl, and let her weigh her over and over again. Angelina saw that the girl had no shoes and had very scarry feet. So angelina decided to give her shoes to the girl. Angelina and the girl talked about what they wanted to do when they grew up, and the other girl said she wanted to become a nurse, but she couldn't, due to her situation. Angelina told the girl that she wanted to become a famous artist and wanted to sing for the whole world. The girl then replied to her that she would pray for Angelina every day, in hopes that she would reach her goals. And Angelina then vowed to the girl that she would never wear shoes while performing, to remember the less fortunate children in the world. Until this very day, Angelina has stood by that promise, whether it be indoors or outdoors concerts/performances. She has contracted QUITE a few colds throughout, due to the fact :-) At age 9, Angelina wrote a book based off of this encounter, called "Between Two Hearts", and she became Norway's youngest published author. Since then, Angelina has helped raise millions of dollars for humanitarian organizations, most of them focusing on children's rights. So, as you understand, Angelina is not just a great singer, she is also an exceptionally beautiful human being, inside and out. I heard you say that you're curious to hear what she sounds like as of RIGHT NOW, and so, I have the perfect suggestion for you. Again Angelina slow down her version as she went to this more classic approach to this song. She always make like musical wonders when she does this to other songs as well. Like she did with "California Dreamin" and "Wicked Game", as well as to her AGT performance you`ve seen; "Bohemian Rhapsody". WHY ANGELINA ONLY PERFORMS ON STAGE BAREFOOT At 6 years old she toured Iran with her Iranian Grandma Mery Zamani and her mother Sara. While strolling the streets Angelina (AJ) noticed a young girl her age weighing people on bathroom scales on the street. AJ struck up a conversation with the girl and discovered the girl was earning money to help support her orphan siblings. AJ asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl said "a doctor but that can't happen because I am too poor to go to school" and the girl asked AJ the same to which AJ said "I want to sing for the world". She also did Mercy from The hating game movie. This is the same song Angelina did in the finals to win Norway's Got Talent. She was only 8 years old then. Here I believe she is about 11. Why Angelina always performs barefoot♥👣 At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. Her shoes? She gave them away to a homeless girl she met on the street when she was 6. I believe it was in Tehran but when an interviewer asked her where it happened a couple of years later, Angelina's response was, "It could have been anywhere," which, having come from an 8 or 9-year-old, might be the most disarming answer that interviewer will ever hear. Angelina vowed at the time not to wear shoes during public performances until every child worldwide is in a position to own a pair of their own and may, even at that tender age, have recognised this as a lifetime commitment. Certainly she understands it by now but she has not wavered. Possibly the shoes she gave away are continuing to perform their function under new ownership; or perhaps they have blended into the landscape. One hopes their initial recipient, who would, like Angelina, be approaching adulthood now, has not forgotten the solitary empath who, perhaps only briefly, improved her circumstances. It is clear Angelina has not forgotten her and neither should we.
