Second comment: I think she's doing fine now. She is from a poor family (single mom) in Chile and as a young girl was making some money singing in bars and night clubs... at age 13 or 14 she was picked up by a guy who was like 30 years older than her who abused her for several years, always promising he would make her a famous artist, but of course nothing happened, he just fucked her... He was one of the reasons why she went to Mexico after she finally found the strength to run away from him, she wanted a new start in a place where nobody knew her, and it was only in Mexico that she became a famous artist, and she made it on her own... This song you just heard was the one that laid the foundation for her career, she had put a video of it on her KZbin channel, very raw, just her and her cat and dog in her room, she playing the acoustic guitar and singing the song. The video (it's still available, I'll link it at the end...) went viral and after that she was offered her first record deal. Meanwhile she has six great albums out... Mon is an adorable woman who now also is engaged in a lot of social work with underprivileged women, and she's a painter and visual artist as well, if you continue down the road you will find she does a lot of her stage design with beautiful huge dolls and other things... Hello Andrei and Dominika. I love your reactions. I've been watching you and subscribed for about 3 months now. I love that you express your feelings and emotions that the songs draw out from you. Mon Laferte has done two different Tiny Desk sessions. One with Juanes in the little shop you are familiar with. The other which I highly recommend is with a group of excellent musicians filmed in a small church somewhere in Mexico. She is pregnant in the session so it was around two or three years ago as she is now a mom. It is 18 minutes long. She does 4 songs. She is so full of emotion and energy. I hope you treat yourselves to this gift of hers. Wishing you continued success at music exploration.
