I've seen Collective Soul a couple of times live, and they are very good live, I've been a fan for about 30 years. I work in a Cannabis Store in Ontario, Canada and we have a casino across the road from us. Last summer, some of the crew and band members of Collective Soul came in to the store, and I spoke with the base player, who was very lovely to talk to, and a fun experience for me. He was so gracious and kind and gave me 4 tickets for that night's show at the casino. Of course I went with some family members and it was great. The bass player was looking for me in the audience and waved once he saw me, and that was a thrill for me.

Collective Soul awesome! They played a club here in 2000, and overloaded the electrical service… They blew up a pole transformer which in turn knocked out several city blocks wor of power! 😂

Interesting the person recommended this song, as your intro to the band. They have MANY terrific songs. They were big in the mid to late 90's. I would think the song they are most known for is "The World I know".

Few would believe that of all the great 90’s songs Heavy had the 3rd longest weeks at #1 on the mainstream rock charts. Cumulative #1 weeks’ songs - from ‘94 (when they started) CS had songs w the 2nd highest total weeks at #1. I don’t think anyone would believe that or know that.

This song and Green River are the best less than 3 minute rock songs of all time.

That guitar riff throughout that repeats through the song is reminiscent of a riff in Whitesnake’s In the Still of the Night.

Oh, do dig deeper for this amazing band. Still one of my favorite, Heavy is a great song, but they have so many hits. Great band! The World I Know, December, Shine, Precious Declaration, etc.

You should react to their song, The World I Know. Very good song and meaning behind it. Great video too.

The bass player, Wil Turpin, sings harmony on some of the refrain. You can hear him better on an uncompressed version.

Always liked this song. Just to clarify something…Atlanta is the capital of the state of Georgia.

It is 90’s sound for sure…but hell, that guitar overdub with the wah wah was right out of the 70’s……I thought of Jimmy Page for a second.

"SHINE" is their big hit. Try that one. Much better than this.

Heavy was #1 for 15 weeks; 3rd best #1 stretch of any rock song during the ‘90’s.

@@anthonylennen4067 Is that right? Billboard is what I'm looking at. If you go by just the rock charts then that's not where you make it big, it's on the Hot 100 of Billboard were "Heavy" peaked at #73 and "Shine" peaked at #11.

Good song, but probably not a good choice for your first listen to Collective Soul. Their first single is a big song...the kind that most ppl really like. "Shine"
