Thanks for the video. I have that same set up. I put my bellows on with the clamp down and its popped off twice once in the back and now in the front. Irritating me bad I might try doubling those clips up. Oh just so you know you can put a 1/4" drive socket set on that rear screw through the hole in the housing you have to use a 6" extension and a swivel joint ( u joint extension)with a 5/16" little socket. You have to put the extension through the hole first then put your swivel and socket connection on by raising the drive housing up slightly. I used a screwdriver to tighten it up some so the clamp would stay put on top then change to the socket set to tighten it up good. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this Tip.. Ive had the same problem even with bellows adhesive it would pop off. I saw a different video prior and they said the tabs go on the top... That explains why....

Those clips are for grounding the clamps to the drive for corrosion
@mikemeyers79245 жыл бұрын
Those are grounding clips. I have installed exhaust bellows without those on occasion and never had a problem with the bellows coming off. Using bellows adhesive and being SURE that the boot is all the way on and the clamp is all the way on.

Yes! I’ve learned now that the adherence is best when you totally let the adhesive dry. Like overnight!

Thanks for sharing your experience. You may benefit more by watching how-to's than by putting them out.

There was nothing to search for. Just trying to solve a problem. The solution is to let the adhesive dry completely before install. For those who need to know. I can learn.

You gotta use bellows adhesive. That's why it popped off. Mercury Quicksilver makes it.
@Vincegould3 жыл бұрын
Used it every time. Argh

@@Vincegould Did you have the wierd bellows tool? It probably wasn't on all the way. That adhesive works great after it dries. Hard to work with though. 🤔 Has that boat ever had a gimbal failure?
@Vincegould2 жыл бұрын
My mistake was not totally letting the glue dry.
@thediplomasta58912 жыл бұрын
@@Vincegould Ahh. Well, all things being ideal, it's still a pain in the arse. Theres only one bellows-free stern drive. Omc stringer drives, don't have any bellows OR hydraulics. Really well engineered. Has a wet oil bath gimbal bearing too. They are still around. The only catch is the impeller. Really involved replacement job.

Hose clamps are round but the pipes they connect are more oval shaped so hard to get a good seal all the way around

What happens when the bellows pop och and i drive the boat?
@MichaelJones-ql9yb5 жыл бұрын
Are you supposed to squeeze those clamps? I assume so but nobody anywhere says to do that.

Do you know if the top bellow can be replaced without removing the out drive.
