Im an automatic but i have to ask. Why are the crank case vent hoses open? An since there pretty much open why not just filter plug it?

Hey bud, thanks for the comment, well, for as far as I understand it the only difference for the automotive is that the gases are rerouted to a charcoal chamber or filtration system because of emission regulations where the cruisers the gas is just get sucked up by the carburetor and it spit it out on the exhaust, I think the cars are just different because of emissions, but there could be more to it

Thank you for watching 😉 the 454 takes 7 usqt bone dry but put 6 and check it, is what I do. If is not you rear seal look closely by the distributor usually can leak there and the edge of the intake manifold or by the time chain cover. I hope that helps, I had leaks in all thous spots one time or another

I checked those hoses and when I try to tighten those hoses the whole assembly turns (not the hoses) should that happen? The nipple part turns

Hello my friend thank you for watching the video, the nipple it self is what tightens the assembly, first tighten the nipple then with two ranches you tight the hose holding the nipple with one of them.. I hope this helps

My oil leak turned out to be a crack or worn area in the dip stick tube. The water inlet hose was rubbing against it for 20 years. Who would have thunk. 🙄😃👍🏻

Interesting, mecruiser 3.0 seems to be simpler it doesn't have those lines for cooling the oil.

Nice to see you do your own work I had a similar problem, but the hose had to be replaced on mine. The leak was at the oil cooler.

I HAVE finding an oil/fuel mixture under the 350 engine of my 2455 BAYLINER. 12 gallons of fuel gets used up quickly within an hour of cruising. I do not think the fuel tank has a leak. I think it may be a similar problem to what you had. It appears the fuel line goes to the oil filter area. I will check it out tomorrow. Thanks. I need to put gas back in it and run it in the driveway and watch for the leak.

JEREMY ARGUELLES BULLFROG ENDURANCE Hello my friend thank you for watching the video, pull out your dipstick and smell your oil see if you can smell gas in your oil already maybe the oil that’s leaking out already has the gas in it but I have to say 12 gallons on cruising speed does not sound off as my 454s at Open throttle if I’m not wrong can go up to 32 gallons an hour but on regular cruising I think I’ve burned around 16 gallons an hour per engine

Cruising the South I will check it out. Yeah, I like going fast 80-100% throttle Runs strong. A little smoke out of the exhaust too....

JEREMY ARGUELLES BULLFROG ENDURANCE Faster faster faster LOL am I right 😆 Yeah definitely smell your oil if you have gas in it you’ll be able to tell right away.. do you have a mechanical or electric fuel pump? Also is your boat straight shaft and your exhaust comes out of the side of the boat? My set up is the exhaust lifters my exhaust comes out from the side of the boat on high rpm lots of steam is normal on this set up.. roaming through Searays pictures archives seen the boats with my type of exhaust smoking up a storm which is not smoke is steam from the hot exhaust

Hey good to see you again buddy, shoutin out to you again from cali. Glad your leak was nothing major! Those style of lines are flared fittings. Best to loosen the slip nut, tighten up the nipple, then retighten the slip nut, remembering not to overtighten any of them😊Been super busy working on our old girl. Will done one vids soon. I haven't figured out how to use our editor yet. Will try to get something out!
