You're actually the first person doing a playthrough of this mode i ever saw giving Launcher the time of day. All the other i saw just blow him off.

For me only homing is useless merc. Too late joined, too little power.

And aside from the first stage of both modes, this mode's music is better than that in the normal game. It also introduced some new elements, like shops, multiple party members and power/speed-ups, that weren't in the normal game. A shame this mode never made it into any other version...

personally I like to upgrade rifle as much as possible, then when I get laser upgrade him immediately since he's a boss killer. burner, launcher, and homing are meh. also explore as much as possible for hidden areas with goodies.

Protip: you can use the gold emergency kit to fill the ENTIRE team’s health. Quickly switch through all your team members before the first member’s health bar fills up and you can fill each team members health bar. It’s a great find for the desert and street scenes.

This game was pretty good but could have been amazing if they kept the arcade co-op! It was so fun to jump into a vehicle and get one player to drive while the other player manned the machine guns!

You missed a lot of stuff, most importantly two hidden gas masks and dozens of medals. A lot of times you should just check the left/right route immediately before scrolling the screen up, for some hidden items. The game often has a single medal or so in front of you, tricking you to scroll up to reach it, making you lose out on some hidden items. You can get a LOT of extra items that way. and on Mission 7 you should start the level by going to the left, through a breakable crate.

+mrnaughtycat That's because the PS2 version is a port from the PS1 Capcom Generation 4, which itself is a port of the original arcade game that was closer than the Genesis port.The extra mode was likely thrown into the Genesis port to give players more game for their buck as this game is a bit on the short side.
