Jfyi, you can just push the red button where the safety lanyard clips on and it will shut off. You don't need to pull off the lanyard. You also don't need to shut off the fuel when you stop it. Only when you want to tilt it up, carry it or run the carbs dry for storage. Good vid. I run my 2.5 (modded to a 5hp though) on a BPS Pond Prowler 10

@@stefanflorin288 Installed a 5hp carburetor. I re-jetted the new one also and installed a 5.7 pitch prop.

@@stefanflorin288 It's not a must I just wanted a tad more fuel delivery. Procedure is you remove the main jet, drill it out a little (.0005" at a time) then reinstall, test run, check the spark plug electrode, then repeat if necessary.

I had a 3hp 2stroke Tanaka on my 12ft and it did about 8 on flat water, I’m about to buy this new though and it looks about as fast and I’m sure more reliable

I have the 3.5. Have you seen vids about removing restrictor plate? 2.5 and 3.5 are identical. Supposedly the restrictor plate is only difference.

Hey bro and just so you know I got the same exact motor but 3.5hp and instead of pulling the key out every time you want to shut the motor off you can just push it in with the key still in it. Just give it a firm push in. I would pull the whole key out until I heard from someone on here.

Dominik Wilson no filter sir. What you do on these is change the drain plug to a magnetic plug and that will help the life of the motor tremendously. But sitting upright like that on the transom you should atleast see more than half way on that window

I'm looking at a used on local to me. Its a 2019.. with only a couple of hours on it. They guy said he'd take $500. I'm also looking at a 2009 Yamaha 4HP with external gas tank etc. He's the original owner and says it runs great. That guy said he'd take $450. I'm having a hard time deciding. Newer 2.5... or older 4hp. Any thoughts?

I would go with the newer motor , it may be a 2.5 but the 4hp isn’t going to blow it out of the water and it’s older so potentially needs maintenance
