Mercury 50 HP Propeller Change

Watch this video to see how to save money by changing your own propeller. The video ends with an on the water test. A minimal number of tools is necessary to complete this project. Mechanical experience is not needed to complete the propeller change.

You should be at 30 with 5500 my experience. Frustrating when its not set up right I just lowered my engine on the same boat I have not sea tested Think i should get a 14 pitch ? I guess i should sea test with each repair thats the right way. I always use a dolphin it always helps.

I have the 50 2-stroke, what was the final decision on this and what speed did you accomplish?? Did you make it to 30mph?? please and TY!

Top speed was 28 with this prop. I sold the boat.

Bikes Boats Bivouacs You may been dealing with what i am. Your motor is one or two inches to high I bought a perfect boat a 2003 17 with same 50 merc and they screwed up the rigging and hes been using it all this time with 27 mph terrible ride. .

Good day, hey sir I have the same motor. It can run the rpms up to 6k but in the water it only goes to 4k. Know of anything I could check

Most likely you need to switch to a lower pitch prop. When running full throttle in the water it should be at 5500 rpms.

@@dannycaldwell6895 you will need to look at the prop that is on the motor to see what the pitch is. The numbers should be stamped on the shaft of the prop. Then you would want to order a prop with a lower pitch. If you talk to a prop supplier they can help you pick a lower prop. Also check to see if your prop matches my prop in the video because it ran my boat around 5500 rpms.
