I really want Mercury to just press the eject button on Tyrian and turn the airship around and switch to ruby and ozpin’s side. Maybe he can arrive in time to get team APRY out of there. (APRY is what I like to call team Jaune, Oscar, Ren, and Yang, it’s short for apricot) Because they’ll most likely need some back up in rescuing Oscar. Maybe he can get some other defectors like Hazel or Emerald out of there too if they make that choice.

@@nicolasneal204 I think Mercury is a way better fighter than people think he is and if not he should be. Considering he was training all his life and that the training was harsh and relentless which likely pushed him to be much better. I know yang technically didn’t beat him but he should be way better than her or any other member of team RWBY. I honestly don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t be on the same level as Qrow or Tyrian or Ironwood. I mean Ironwood was defeated by Watts (Watts was only taken because he let his guard down and even then that might have just been the plan in the first place). Most of time we’ve seen Mercury fight is when he either lost on purpose, got overconfident, or got caught off guard. When we did see him fight for real he completely owned Yatsuhashi and Coco with what looked like little effort. I don’t think emerald even needed to step in. He probably could’ve taken Pyrrha too if she didn’t have such an unfair advantage with her semblance and his legs. Sorry if it sounds like I’m ranting too much but I really like Mercury’s character and I really want him to have more time to shine.

@@JKBlackClover Mercury's definitely a good fighter but he doesn't have the experience necessary to be on Qrow and Tyrian's level there's a big difference between training and actual fighting to death although his skills are pretty useful and he only beat Coco and Yatsuhashi because he was faster then the both of them and has for Yang they're fighting styles are similar enough that she can actually hold her own fairly well against him and her semblance would most likely push her over the edge since everytime she gets hit she gets stronger and rather than blowing through that energy like before she waits for a moment when she can't miss her target and destroys them that being said though Mercury is definitely a one the best fighter's in the show and does really well without semblance and can easily go toe to toe with anyone and do well

Only in later volumes and usually when witnessing Salem's magic in early volumes he knew everything they were doing and was pretty calm now he's like how Roman was left in the dark and only following orders as receives them the only difference between the two was that Roman was older and had more experience in keeping a calm mind while not knowing the big picture and Mercury lived most of his life isolated with his dad training to kill and now he's dealing things he never even thought about while still being very young and unprepared for most things the world has to offer he's in too deep and thinks all he can do his continue down his path even if he's beginning to doubt that path himself

That last scene is extremely important for the eventual redemption of Mercury. It seems each of Cinder’s underlings may redeem for different reasons. Emerald is redeemed because she sees the atrocities of everything (Good). Neo is redeemed because she was revenge on Cinder (Neutral). And Mercury is redeemed not because he wants to be good, but he just wants to save himself from Salem (Evil). Throughout all of this, it looks like Mercury has no interest in being good like Emerald does. But we see when Mercury finds out Salem wants to end the world, he’s very disturbed by it. He can very well be reformed to fight alongside the heroes, not because he wants Good to succeed, but because he knows if Salem wins, he’s going to die. I hope at the end of the series, Cinder has to fight against Mercury, Emerald, and Neo together. It would be poetic.

Honestly, I really don't want Mercury to change sides. It would be great to see him clash with Emerald and really get some character development. Actually Mercury has grey eyes, not silver eyes. In the world of RWBY, silver eyes have small white lines in the iris, which is prevalent from volumes 2 to 8. Mercury does not have those lines in his eyes.

They are Gray, not Silver. Silver Eyes (like Ruby's) has tiny white "ticks" on them to differentiate them.
